About this deal

Typically, we’re a bit of a hosting family and love to have my siblings, their partners and children round, so our Landmann Gas Barbecue is brilliant for big get-togethers. But when it’s just me and my parents planning burgers for tea, firing it up feels a bit overkill. A handful of Kamado Joe-brand accessories, including the JoeTisserie rotisserie attachment, will fit the Big Green Egg. Many kamado users also love the addition of a ceramic surface to deflect heat. This allows for indirect cooking, and many cooks use it to turn their grill into a smoker or outdoor oven. Both Big Green Egg and Kamado Joe have their own version of this ceramic piece, and you can use them interchangeably between both brands. After loading my burger with gherkins, cheese and ketchup, I was ready to enjoy, and loved the smoky flavour from the coals. As gorgeous and useful as our large gas BBQ is, you just don’t get the same flavour as with a charcoal one.

Our friends bought a large Aldi Kamado and said it was brilliant and so we thought that we would give the mini a go. We can’t believe how good it is, especially when you consider the price. It is very heavy and as well made as any others we saw. Highly recommended, it is fantastic!” This BBQ is a total bargain and for the price, I'd recommend anyone looking for a smaller Kamado-style BBQ on a budget to invest. It is pretty small, with 4 burgers max at a time, but if you only have a few people to cater to then it'll suffice. The setup time is minimal and the cooking on this BBQ is great, with the vents making it really versatile for all different types of foods. RJA 2022 uses theirs as a second BBQ, like me, and wrote: “Superb mini Kamado, a great alternative to using my full size grill. Small amount of charcoal and a great cooking heat raised in about 30 mins, even better if left longer. Danielle Centoni is the author of five cookbooks and a writer and product tester for The Spruce Eats. She also tested one of the most popular kamado grills on this list. Ease of use is where this grill really shines. The automatic starter is a game-changer and the temperature-regulating features—Kontrol Fan that automatically maintains temperature and Kontrol Tower top vent for consistent air setting during dome opening and closing—make this a super accessible option for beginners. When one of our testers brought this home for more long-term extensive testing, he noted that his wife, who is relatively new to grilling, found that this model eased her anxiety, and it's made its way into weeknight use because of the efficiency factor.

As with all charcoal barbecues, there wasn't too much maintenance to be done with this grill, but the next time it's in use you should rake over the coals so that they fall into the lower part of the Kamado, and you can remove them and start afresh. How does it compare to similar BBQs?

You can read loads more about our Kamado-style BBQs and accessories here. We also do a BIG PIG BLUEY, which boasts a whopping 21" grill. Show-off. Once the preheating was done Ibegan cooking with one of the ultimate BBQ foods, beef burgers. I started off with two patties, thinking that the grill could only hold that many. It became clear soon after that I could fit more on (even if they took a little longer to cook), so I squeezed four onto the space. Foodies love them for the superb-tasting food they produce and the versatility of how they can be used. The only downer is the price, although a high-end gas barbecue doesn't cost much less.Kamado grills have become an increasingly popular choice thanks to their versatility and this one just about does it all, letting you smoke, roast and grill almost anything. In fact, the novel design means you can even cook bread or pizza, if you’re so inclined. It’s well and truly BBQ season and with the weather set to reach highs of more than 30C over the next week or so, it’s time to get the burgers and sausages - or plant-based alternative - out of the freezer.
