About this deal

The mathematical content of the MAT, in terms of the syllabus and the format of the test, is unchanged for 2023. Each program takes about 15 to 23 minutes, but it executes 4 of them at the same time. As such, the time comes down to 3 to 3,5 hours per day. (Many devices on the market only allow you to run 1 program at a time, making the therapy longer on a daily basis). Only under certain circumstances do we suggest using it more than 4 times a day, for example, in cases of severe or acute pain. Taking any type of test or exam can be stressful, but you can help build your confidence by doing some preparation ahead of time. You are likely to do better in the real test if you've had a chance to practise some sample or past papers, and got used to the format and timings of the admissions test you have to take. It is not possible to re-sit a test. If you feel you did badly due to extenuating circumstances, for example: if you were ill on the day of the test, your test centre can submit a special considerations form for you; or if there was some form of disruption at the test centre you can submit the form yourself. Application forms must be received within 5 days of the test date. The Notes for the past papers are intended for candidates using the past papers to prepare for MAT 2021. They mostly refer to syllabus changes. Note that there are 18 papers listed below, which is far more than we would expect any applicant to attempt.

The Mathematics Admissions Test (MAT) is a subject-specific admissions test, lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes and sat under timed conditions. The MAT is a hybrid test - with computer-based questions and a paper answer booklet. You will need to take this test at an authorised test centre which, in most cases, will be your school or college. All applicants taking this test will be able to practise by taking the 2022 past paper (or equivalent) as a hybrid test in advance of your test day. Please note that as the structure of this test has not changed, all the existing resources and past papers available here are still valuable preparation for you and we strongly recommend exploring these. Watch the Mathematics department's MAT livestream. This year's livestream runs from early August until November, but you can also access recordings of previous events. As PEMF can be used for a variety of conditions, its speed of effectiveness can be influenced by the condition being treated, and whether it is acute or chronic. On the 3 November, The Mathematical Institute will send out invitations for the additional test to all candidates who have been identified as having experienced disruption, as well as to test centres where that disruption took place.

Details of any access arrangements you require (together with evidence to support your request unless your centre already has this information). On the 3 November, we will send out invitations for the additional test to all candidates who submitted a special consideration form, or who are identified as having experienced disruption, as well as to test centres where that disruption took place. We recognise that some candidates may not have access to information via schools or centres - we are doing all we can to identify them. The frequency of use can also influence how long the treatment takes to work. Patients who used PEMF stimulation for 9 hours or more per day healed 76 days earlier than patients who used PEMF stimulation for 3 hours or less per day.

The MAT syllabus is based on the first year of A level Maths, and a few topics from the fourth term of A level Maths which we think students will have covered by the time of the test. In clinical studies where PEMF has been used to treat pain, the effects have been seen quite swiftly: Pain severity declined by the end of the first day and continued to decline throughout the seven days of treatment. The MAT aims to test the depth of mathematical understanding of a student in the fourth term of their A-levels (or equivalent) rather than a breadth of knowledge. It is set with the aim of being approachable by all students, including those without Further Mathematics A-level, and those from other educational systems (e.g. Baccalaureate and Scottish Highers). Modern scientific research conducted by NASA and others has accelerated our understanding of how we can harness the abilities of these frequencies for specific treatment purposes. Further credit cannot be gained by attempting questions other than those appropriate to the degree applied for.

These reports provide summaries of theadmissions process for the subjects of Mathematics, Mathematics and Statistics, Mathematicsand Philosophy and Mathematics and Computer Science: Mathematics and Computer Science, Computer Science, and Computer Science and Philosophy applicants should attempt questions 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 We are aware of the widespread disruption to the MAT this year, due to technical issues with the online test platform. Tired or damaged cells receive an electromagnetic wave; which boosts circulation, oxygenation and hydration and helps remove toxins from the cells. The way that candidates access the questions is changing for October 2023. Candidates will see the questions on a computer screen. Candidates will write their responses in a paper answer booklet, which will be scanned by their test centre.PEMF therapy uses Pulsed Electromagnetic frequencies to ‘reset’ the body’s cells—like recharging a battery. You may wish to take a look at the following online resources to help expand your mathematical knowledge. Please note that candidates are not required to take STEP, but may find it useful in helping them prepare for the MAT (although the questions are quite different in style.) Our admissions tests are an important part of our assessment process so please ensure your school, college or other test centre registers you for your test (or tests) by 29 September. The human body is composed of trillions of cells. These cells provide structure for the body, take in nutrients from food, convert those nutrients into energy, and carry out specialized functions. Once again, we apologise for all the disruption. We are doing all we can to make sure all candidates have an opportunity to display their full potential, and no one is disadvantaged.
