Edging round: Join in fifth shade to any chsp, 1ch (does not count as a st), 3dc in same place as join, 1dc in each of next 21tr, [3dc in next chsp, 1dc in each of next 21tr] twice, slst in first dc. Lay strands flat and tie them together securely around middle, leaving ends of tie free to sew tassel to pennant. Fold strands in half. The average size of a birthday banner is around 3 feet by 6 feet.
