About this deal

On a personal note, I like that ASUS provides a non-RGB card for those that simply don't care about RGB. The card does have a single LED to illuminate its logo, but that's it as far as I can tell.

At 1440p the margins grow a little, here the 3080 Ti is 4% slower than the 3090. That said, it's now only 5% slower than the 6900 XT, but overall for rasterization performance the Radeon GPU was a little faster in our dozen game sample while offering more VRAM. oh man, the scalpers really effed up this whole generation for us. THIS CARD IS AMAZING. It wipes the floor with my 2080 Super, I can get more than twice the frames with RTX on or DLSS features. It's much faster at non-ray tracing loads as well, and MUCH smoother with no hitches anywhere. Also, NO COIL WHINE. This was a noticable problem with my 2080 as well and this card is SILENT apart from the fans, which are also much quieter even under load. Finally, at 4K the 3080 Ti was just 4% slower than the 3090 and 11% faster than the 3080 and 6% faster than the 6900 XT. So similar margins to what we've seen in the previous 3 titles, so let's move on to look at the 12 game average. Average Performance Generation RT Cores: Experience 2X the throughput of 1st gen RT Cores, plus concurrent RT and shading for a whole new level of ray tracing performance.

Render Config

Next we have Assassin's Creed Valhalla, here we're looking at 96 fps on average at 1080p using the maximum in-game quality settings. This meant the 3080 Ti was just 4% slower than the RTX 3090 and 3% faster than the RTX 3080.

At 4K, the 3080 Ti is able to beat the 6900 XT by a slim 3% margin. It's 4% slower than the RTX 3090 and 9% faster than the RTX 3080. Power Consumption It's also worth noting that all this data is fresh, after weeks upon weeks of testing we have all our benchmark data updated on the new Ryzen 9 5950X testbed, which has been configured with 32GB of dual-rank, dual-channel DDR4-3200 CL14 memory. Let's get into the results... Benchmarks The 3080 Ti did slip behind the RTX 3090 at 1440p, though the margin was small and some 12% faster than the 3080. This side-on shot reveals that Asus uses heatsinks over all the hot-running components. The PCB actually ends right by the power connectors, so Asus, like Nvidia, also harnesses through-the heatsink cooling on the left-hand side.

Axial-tech Fan Design has been tuned up with more fan blades and a reversed rotational direction for the center fan. Generation RT Cores: Experience 2X the throughput of 1st gen RT Cores, plus concurrent RT and shading for a whole new level of ray tracing performance The reasoning for this is simple, Nvidia aims to make more money as long as this GPU boom lasts. Now, if you don't believe Nvidia is selling GPUs directly to miners, which happens to be our opinion, then it's AIBs and/or distributors who are selling to miners in volume. It must be great to be selling all those RTX 3090, but letting go of slightly defective GA102 silicon for less than half the price probably stings a lot right now.

The ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 OC is the company's biggest bet on the TUF Gaming brand since its transformation from a hyper-durable motherboard label to a gaming-centric name targeted at gamers looking for durable, value-conscious products a few years ago. ASUS typically positions TUF Gaming below the coveted ROG brand. Over the past few years, we've seen the company design TUF Gaming graphics cards based on entry-thru-mainstream GPUs, but this is the first outing with an enthusiast-segment GPU, NVIDIA's flagship GeForce RTX 3080 "Ampere," which debuted earlier this month. ASUS directed considerable engineering efforts into making this a premium product with several practical features. Axial-Tech Fan Design has been tuned up with more fan blades and a reversed rotational direction for the center fan At 4K the 3080 Ti is 3% slower than the RTX 3090 and 13% faster than the 3080, making it 5% faster than the Radeon RX 6900 XT. Of course, in a normal market if you cared about value you'd get either the 6800 XT or RTX 3080. First up is Death Stranding at 1080p, here the 3080 Ti delivers 3090-like performance – we're talking a 1-2 fps margin – and that means the 3080 Ti is 4% faster than the 3080 but slower than the 6800 XT and 6900 XT. That's probably not a great way to start this review, but there's no mystery to uncover here. Sometimes with these refreshes we get an odd mix of core and memory configurations, but in this instance the 3080 Ti has basically the same memory subsystem as the 3090 with a few less cores.Generation Tensor Cores: Get up to 2X the throughput with structural sparsity and advanced AI algorithms such as DLSS.
