About this deal

These are sort of like small Combat Patrol boxes made specifically to be fielded for the new Boarding Actions. So, expect them all to have a lot of foot sloggers. Want to open a door, but don’t feel like going near it? The Cogitator Override Node has you covered. This sleek little universal remote control lets your Tech Priest open or close hatchways from 9” away, and even lets you throw your model’s Strength into it if your opponent tries to hold it shut. If you’ve brought a Skitarii Marshal, he can have the Skull of Komodus tag along with him, allowing him to hand out full to-hit rerolls to a Skitarii Core unit within 6”. Neat! Lord of Virulence: a character armed with a twin plague spewer and a plague claw, equipped with a range of deadly and contagious weapons that can reduce corridors of enemies to a foul sludge. If you’ve seen our previous Boarding Patrol articles, you’ll see we’ve included points value and commentary on how to maximise what’s in the box for the tabletop – the side of the hobby that is sometimes forgotten over the sheen of ‘ooh, shiny model’. Not me though. Let’s see what the Sons of Mortarion can offer us.

It’s cool that Vashtorr spent a bunch of time working on his little plan and setting all his cute traps, but he absolutely came to the wrong place to try and run that hustle. You can’t Home Alone the Dark Angels on their own turf, my guy. On balance, Daemons will have fewer enhancements available to them than a similarly-aligned Chaos Marines force, but the extra flexibility they can squeeze out of their god-agnostic strats probably makes up for it. You’ll be just as well-equipped to squeeze every last bit of mileage out of your units’ strengths while simultaneously adapting to evolving situations. All in all, a very cool little set of rules. NecronsThe only problem? Everyone else wants in on the action, and now the whole galaxy is boarding the Arks of Omen in search of glory, treasure, or just a big punch-up. In fact, four more Boarding Patrol boxes are preparing for launch in the near future – and only one of them might be said to have the Emperor’s best interests at heart… While your Plague Company does not fundamentally change how your Death Guard army plays – and there isn’t really a ton of fluff or heraldry to consider around them – your decision will grant you access to an optional (but powerful) Warlord Trait/Contagion, Relic, and Stratagem. Let’s give a general review to how your choice can impact how your army plays: The only problem? Everyone else wants in on the action, and now the whole galaxy is boarding the Arks of Omen in search of glory, treasure, or just a big punch-up. In fact, four more Boarding Patrol boxes are preparing for launch in the near future – and only one of them might be said to have the Emperor’s best interests at heart… A Lord of Virulence leads Boarding Patrol: Death Guard. Alongside him stalk three Deathshroud Terminators and 10 Plague Marines, each a veritable wall of flesh and iron. Boarding Patrol: Genestealer Cults

Finally, a box without a ton of Poxwalkers! This box is pretty solid as you get a lot of troops but not a giant number of models overall. We’re at the lower end of the savings we’ve seen in the Boarding Patrol series so far – and the Aussies are getting particularly hard-done-by with this set. Boarding Patrol: Drukhari – Contents

Though masters of subterfuge and disguise, the Alpha Legion nevertheless had their own heraldry when waging war. Outfit your troops with helmets and shoulders that feature the intricate patterns and writhing hydra motif of the XX Legion. Character Heads Upgrade Sets While a case of the sniffles or festering pustules are not the kind of blessings you’d want to receive from Nurgle, your bank balance will definitely appreciate these savings at almost 50% off the total models if bought individually. The savings are practically on par with Boarding Patrol: Chaos Space Marines – and that had Abaddon the Despoiler in it. Though comparatively, Boarding Patrol: Death Guard has less models in it, the infantry and elite units have much higher points value (and general play value) than the 20 cultists in the Chaos box. Boarding Patrol: Death Guard – ContentsGreg: It’s insanely funny how dirty they did Vashtorr, but also no one cares about the idiot wrench god.

If you want to expand past that, you can add more plague marines, a second HQ, and start thinking about daemon engines and what kind of play style you want to support. Painting Your ArmySomething to note is that there are fundamentally two types of units in Codex: Death Guard to be aware of: BUBONIC ASTARTES units, which includes plague marines, terminators, and most of the army’s characters, and DAEMON ENGINES, which are possessed vehicles like the Plagueburst Crawler and Foetid Bloat-Drones. Most of the CORE units for the army are in the BUBONIC ASTARTES group, and most of the army’s buffs and secondary objective rules tend to revolve around them. As you’re starting out, you’ll likely want to focus on having a good mix of both to play with. Well, the value is pretty decent, but again, it comes down to whether you need the units inside. If you don’t need a single unit, the box value goes way down. However, if you need everything inside, you get the 10 Acolyte Hybrids for close to free!
