About this deal

KINGrinder has around six manual hand grinders at the time of writing, and each grinder in their range has a unique burr set optimized for that particular grinder. Looking at their selection, I think the K6 falls into the “all-in-one grinder” category and has more than likely been designed to produce a wide range of different grinds. Whereas the other grinders from the K4 down look to excel at maybe only one or two different brew styles. How Fast Does The K6 Grind?

While the C3 is a fantastic budget grinder and I am convinced that there is no other grinder that can offer the same features for the price point of the C3 I feel that seeing how close the price point is to the K6, you may want to consider an upgrade! The Comandante is known for it's wooden body paired with the fantastic burr geometry we all love, this being said I think the K6 is very competitive feature wise however it's design doesn't feature anything as beautiful as the real wood body. The grinder just feels solid and hefty. The internal bearings turn very smoothly. The body feels sturdy, and the handle works well and feels good in the hand. Having this a lot management over your grind settings makes the K6 really versatile and ideal for on a regular basis pour-over or espresso brewing. So, if you’re in the market for an entry-level grinder that can adeptly handle both espresso and pour-over, or if you’re on a tight budget, the K6 is tailor-made for you. I tried it again this morning with a Brazillian bean that I usually grind at the coarser end of my espresso window.(P64)

Plus, I found that my particular K6 doesn’t zero at exactly 0. This does not affect the grinder’s performance, but if you follow any grind size guide using the K6, your setting could be slightly off. So best to play around with your grinder to get accustomed to its unique setup. The grinder simply feels stable and hefty. The inner bearings flip very easily. The physique feels sturdy, and the deal with works effectively and feels good within the hand. My 30+ year old grinder takes about 5 minutes to grind for espresso and has now been retired to spice duties. The K-Ultra does offer some life-quality upgrades like the handle and the travel case and the magnetic catch cup, but I wonder whether or not I'll feel any difference in the cup in terms of taste, considering they have a similar burr geometry. After testing I might say that the burrs housed within the K4 are barely higher optimized for espresso, whereas the K6 is about up as a extra versatile grinder for all brewing strategies. And with the K6, you’ve as much as 3 full rotations for a complete of 180 settings from tremendous advantageous to very coarse.

I originally wrote this for a Reddit member in r/coffee who was awaiting delivery of a new K6 grinder. By the time I finished, the mods had removed the original post asking for recommendations for a grinder to use for AeroPress. It’s not stained and clear coated like the higher-end 1Zpressos, and it’s strange why KINGrinder decided to leave it as natural wood, especially when you are working around water and probably have damp hands. But the reason why a lot of people don’t use a hand grinder for espresso is not the quality of the grind but the amount of effort needed to get whole beans ground to a fine enough grind suitable for espresso. The 48mm stainless steel grinding burr is attached directly to the shaft and held in place by dual bearings. You should not use both o-rings at the same time or you'll lose the white o-ring while trying to take the lid off. Personal experience speaking here. I was experimenting and it didn't work. The powder-coated stainless steel arm and the oversized wooden knob are a nice touch, and for someone with large hands, such as myself, the handle felt just right.
