About this deal

Da Silva GL, et al. Antioxidant, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of lavender essential oil. An Acad Bras Cienc. 2015.

Lavandula angustifolia is one of the most well-known plants used for therapeutic purposes. Products containing lavender ingredients are often used for their calming effects, but there’s more to learn about this remarkable plant. It can help relieve pain, ease headaches and aid sleep, too. A 2016 study conducted on rats found that lavender oil promoted wound healing in the early phase by accelerating the formation of granulation tissue (tissue from the healing surface of the skin) and promoting collagen synthesis. The area of wounds treated with lavender oil was significantly decreased compared to the control group. Further, a few drops of lavender on a cotton handkerchief can provide a moment of relaxation when you’re on the go.

What are essential oils?

To get the most out of your oil, make sure you use a fresh carrier oil (maybe not the dusty on that’s been in your cupboard for years!) and note the expiry date – as this should be the same for your lavender oil now too.

Mature skin – Rose, Carrot seed, Neroli, Frankincense, Lavender, Helichrysum, Sweet Orange, Carrot Seed, Galbanum. Ghavami T, Kazeminia M, Rajati F. It is lightweight, non-greasy, and absorbs very easily because it has a similar chemical structure as our skin’s natural oils. Jojoba oil works to break down and reduce excess sebum – making it a great option for oily or combination skin! Some people experience an initial “purge” (small breakouts) when they first begin to use jojoba oil, only because it is excellent at unclogging pores and removing impurities. Studies also show it is anti-inflammatory and promotes wound healing. An added perk is its very long shelf life of up to 5 years. Note that jojoba oil is not edible. The list of ways that you can use lavender oil is endless, but here are some ideas to get you started:

However, once you’ve made a few batches of lavender oil you will realise how much cheaper it is to make your own compared to buying it new. Lavender bags: fill little fabric bags or paper envelopes with dried lavender and leave them around your home / in your car to freshen up small spaces. Antioxidants have the ability to reduce free radicals, protecting the body from the damage they create. This is why antioxidants are so important for our skin health. It's an excellent essential oil to keep in your first aid kit. Due to its antiseptic properties, lavender is considered beneficial in fighting infection and is a common ingredient in salves formulated to treat skin injuries [ source]. Use it in: Lavender All-Purpose SalveRub over damp skin in circular motions, rinse off with warm water and then apply a homemade skin moisturizer afterward. If you’d like to rub the oil right onto your skin, try adding 2–3 drops into your palms and then rubbing your hands together. Then rub it directly onto your skin or hair.
