About this deal

Pearl Izumi doesn't label these as deep winter gloves but that's what they are if I'm honest. Even though they aren't cheap they are more affordable than deep-winter options with a five-finger design - they're also warmer. While lobster gloves are a cross between normal gloves and mittens, the new Pearl Izumi Inferno gloves are a cross between lobster gloves and regular gloves! You can see the 2-finger design below:

But, what is, is, and I’m OK with it. The Rukka Lobster gloves are really pretty good — which is a good indication of the viability of the three-fingered design. The Nordic 2s are designed for arctic winter rides where the temperature hovers around zero, with added wind chill. As GripGrab is a Scandinavian company, you'd hope its designers have plenty of experience and know-how in making a glove that can cope with the most digit-numbing of conditions. But while GripGrab can certainly make a very warm glove, you may not find it perfect for cycling. All of the gloves on this list are built with some form of insulation. Most modern ski gloves have synthetic fill. While some gloves specify the exact weight of their insulation, fill weight isn’t always the best way to measure true warmth. Part of what I like is that they are warm and comfortable. I love the way Sportful adds so much silicone grip to the palms of their gloves. A big consideration though is that all gloves fail. Coming home with four or five pairs of bulky gloves that are soaking wet is a hassle. You also have to own them and good gloves aren't cheap. Having pushed the limits of temperature in the past my experience was that fingers will eventually go numb at some point and being able to curl them up inside the glove against one’s palm, skin on skin, to restore circulation will extend functionality considerably. On a mountain bike with decent brakes it's easy to do one-finger braking – it's often a recommended technique – and in this situation the GripGrabs' finger division was mostly fine, and thumb and index finger shifting was fine too. Other than those few foibles, the Pearl Izumi AmFIB Lobster Gel gloves are at the top of my list. Tech Specs: Pearl Izumi AmFIB Lobster Gel gloves

You need these insulated, rubberized pogies. They wrap on with Velcro, giving you access to the brake and shift levers, and their generous size leaves room inside for gloves or mitts in really grim conditions. Longer cuts on the tops make it easier to slip your hands in. Make sure you get the right insulation and breathability balance so that you don't overheat your hands and get them covered with sweat. Windproof or waterproof? There is a waterproof fabric and a windproof fabric. Both these fabrics are different, however, many times they are combined as one. The little gel pads help you from numb hands and the silicone prints offer easy braking and shifting of gears.

Neoprene gloves seem like the perfect solution to riding in the rain. In reality, that is true but only when the rain is reasonably warm. As long as the air isn't too cold your hands will get wet then warm the water in the neoprene and you'll be toasty warm. If that's your riding environment then neoprene gloves are a great option and there are a ton to choose from. The palm material wraps up to provide extra protection from abrasion right at the highest wear spot (Image credit: Josh Ross) Performance Denier Cordura provides a strong, abrasion resistant material, which is also coated with wind/water proof membrane. Whereas, if you live in chilly areas, then you might need more than full-fledged bar mitts set to keep your hands warm enough. The lobster-style design has been evolved to have an optimised finger split: where the separation of the forefinger allows for easier braking and shifting on both road and MTB levers – so you have maximum dexterity and control.
