About this deal

The ‘Moose is Loose’ marketing campaign that accompanied our introduction to the US market coincided with the adoption of our moose head icon and signature green bottle, brand emblems that live on to this day. And success in the US paved the way for our eventual expansion across Canada, making the move unquestionably our most important corporate decision of the modern era. The unique and quirky nature of this crime story made international headlines and resulted in publicity for Moosehead; it has also been the basis of a book.

I’m Kevin Murray, Key Account Manager for Moosehead Breweries in Ontario. I manage our relationships with the top alcohol buyers in Canada: the LCBO and The Beer Store. With a wide range of award-winning beers on their menu, Canadians continue to enjoy Moosehead Breweries Limited’s portfolio of Canadian beers. Moosehead beers are made from traditional ingredients and brewed with traditional methods, ranging from the original October brown ale to the iconic Moosehead XXX lager. Canadians have been enjoying the original twisted tea at Moosehead since its inception, and we are eager to keep providing them with a tasty and unique beverage. The Twisted Tea brand is based in Canada and is a refreshing and unique beverage. They are the last independent and true Canadian brewery, and they are especially proud to have invented this tasty beverage as the pioneer. Twisted Tea is made with traditional ingredients and brewing methods, and it is popular across Canada. It’s a pleasure for us to be able to bring this delicious and unique beverage to Canadians, and we’re proud to have invented it. Is Moosehead Owned By Molson?Moosehead beer is brewed in Canada by Moosehead Breweries. The company was founded in 1867 by Susannah Oland in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The company is now owned by Oland’s grandson, Andrew Oland. Moosehead beer is available in Canada, the United States, and Europe. There was a big blast of skunk on top popping that, although it's much less noticeable now, hasn't completely faded. I doubt that this bottle is truly skunked though, even with the green glass. It's anything but an enticing aroma and is weak enough that it can be easily ignored. The initial campaign had its desired effect. When Moosehead first became available in the United States in 1978 the company sold 96,000 cases, almost twice as many as it had anticipated. The brand was especially popular among students of the American I also have my level two Prud’homme Beer Certification and I love to brew my own beer. I haven’t quite got to Moosehead-quality yet, but I’m working on it! In 2005, Moosehead Lager won Gold at the prestigious Monde Selection; the company had also won Gold medals at the World Beer Cup and 2003 Canadian Brewing Awards. [10]

Moosehead Lager is a clean-tasting lager with a malt sweetness that is balanced by hop bitterness. Lagers are popular as an entry point for new beer drinkers due to their lighter, crisper, and less overpowering flavor than beer like a stout or IPA. Lagers are brewed at temperatures below freezing with a slow-acting yeast. A pair of these beverages are made with bottom-fermenting yeast at a lower temperature and have less alcohol than a standard ale. The color of lagers is usually pale yellow, with a light malt flavor and light hop flavor, even when heavily hopped. Postwar brewing for Canadians was done by the “big three”. They controlled 95 percent of the brewing in Canada. These three include: Labatt, Molson, and Canadian Breweries Limited. (Bellamy,M, 2017) Due to a tariff on certain beers from out of province, Moosehead was still able to operate with the three competitors. However Moosehead still struggled even after the prohibition because even though it was over people still weren’t able to drink publicly. This lead to the lowest rate of beer consumption ever. In 1962 the laws were about to change so Moosehead decided to release draft beer which allowed them to dominate in that market for many years.(Bellamy,M, 2017) Marketing and Branding Moosehead Lager is brewed with 100% Canadian 2-row malt and no artificial preservatives or additives. It is fermented with a proprietary lager yeast and is cold-aged for a minimum of 30 days. Moosehead: A Proud Canadian Brewery Why is this Canadian-brewed beer an *American* all-malt lager and not an adjunct lager? (note: the 'adjunct lager' style has since been changed to 'macro lager'). Moosehead Breweries Ltd. may not have used adjuncts, but perhaps they should have. At least then, there'd be some flavor. Better yet, add more ingredients and give us some beer with our beer.Crystal clear pale maize with accents the color of butter (not gaudy margarine yellow, but pale butter yellow). The head is airy and semi-stiff, but still looks like it has more substance than the average mass-produced lager. The cap lingers at a fat one finger for a bit with one undulating ring of lace just above the surface of the beer. Moosehead exited my life for the next few *ahem* decades, until I saw it in my local grocery store a few weeks ago. I started laughing when I saw it, told my wife the sweatshirt story, and made an addition to the future review list. Beer Stats & Info
