About this deal

Victor (Vic) Miglione– Tony's father, who is a freelance electrician and an inventor whose invention changes their lives. Theft: Joel repeatedly steals from stores and the school cafeteria. It bothers Tony immensely, but he’s afraid to say anything. I know I keep gushing about Judy Blume but once again she proves to be one of the best young adult novelists ever. I loved that this story--told from the POV of the male lead Tony--is just a strong a reflection of the juinior high years as "Are There God---It's Me Margaret." Lonely Rich Kid: Applies to Tony regarding his relationship with his family, from whom he becomes increasingly alienated as the story progresses. To Joel as well, as his acting out is partially because he has trouble getting actual attention from his parents.

Kids Raiding the Wine Cabinet: Tony, his rich next door friend Joel and his old friend from the inner city, Frankie, are hanging out in Joel's basement when Joel jimmies into his father's liquor cabinet. The three boys get drunk. Bizarre Taste in Food: Tony Miglione certainly thinks that his new friend Joel has bizarre taste in food; as he says, "He likes some strange sandwiches." His favorite is salami, tomato and mayonnaise, and his second favorite is onion slices on buttered whole wheat bread. This book is one of her most banned and challenged books since it's 1972 publication. I think this is for boys what Margret was for girls. Or attempted to be...was she successful? In other words, the books explains about a literal part of everyone’s life. Banning a book will limit the amount of information available to the readers. One of Blume’s similar book about fulfilling a girl’s sexual desires and want to be a normal person, was able to make the readers understand it’s value. A father was able to understand what his daughter was going through in her teenage life. “ It’s obvious I was never a teenage girl, but my daughter was,’ he said, referring to his very pregnant daughter, Amy, who was in the audience. When librarians and teachers reject works that may be “emotionally inappropriate” for children (a common reason), they’re adhering to the traditional and mostly prevailing view that children’s literature should avoid controversial topics.” (Paul Ringel) Banned books are mostly dependent on the readers and how they view it after getting exposed to the content. Every person has different ways to live their life and specifically, holds unique perspective and mind. Banning books would undermine one’s unique way of thinking and having different thoughts than most people.

Her novel “Then again, Maybe I won’t” was published in 1971 by Macmillans. The book focused on sensitive topics of sexuality and transformation from puberty to manhood. The story takes place in Long Island, New York and about a boy named Tony Miglione who undergoes a major change, after his family moved to a wealthy neighborhood. He experiences many differences and took him some time to fit in. At first, he made a friend named Joel, who was a bad influence and had a habit of shoplifting. Joel had a sixteen year old sister who got undressed every night without pulling down her window blinds. I initially review Then Again Maybe I Won’t when I was around 13, and also it has actually remained among my most liked publications. It is the major book, fact be informed, that I have actually read greater than 3 times. I valued whatever concerning this book, yet most especially I was blown away with the advancement and also understanding of the key personality, Tony. He was someone I can associate with, and also at that young age, he was furthermore someone. Judy Blume – Then Again, Maybe I Won’t Audiobook Free Online I would certainly have intended to have actually fulfilled and also dealt with as a buddy. Ms. Blume has a technique for expanding her personalities and also making them seem human. I currently can not appear to browse one more youngsters’ book that captured so efficiently the injury of pubescence, the chaos of expanded- up links, and also the severe truth of averting your young people to realize the troubles of manliness. Read it! It’s an unbelievablebook In the final chapter, Tony is bicycling and talking to himself about his parents building a swimming pool and he is approaching his 14th birthday. Tony is also now more at ease with himself and the family changes, and he had the courage to tell the therapist he spied on Lisa. Tony thinks it would be best if he ceases his voyeuristic behavior for good, but finally says to himself 'Then again, maybe I won't.'But the reason this is banned is probably due to it's discussions of Tony not understanding why he's getting hard or his shame over wet dreams and asking for binoculars for Christmas to spy on the neighbor girl getting dressed by her open window every night. It was a little uncomfortable at how hyper -focused Tony was on Lisa, but I was never a boy going through puberty so maybe it's accurate...or maybe it was the only thing he could look forward to with all his parents neglect. >_> But it wasn't just because I knew my parents wouldn't approve—it was also the general tone of Blume's books. I remember a lot of youth-focused books in that era were based in the real world and featured protagonists in urban settings (especially New York or New Jersey); in families that were in some way dysfunctional; enduring problems at school and navigating adolescence; dealing with class and race issues. I was growing up in a rural, agricultural small town in the Midwest, part of a loving family, and stories like these seemed to have nothing to do with me. Somehow my literary imagination didn't extend to putting myself into these settings. I didn't care for the slightly gritty, urban realism. Perhaps that's one reason I tended to choose fantasy stories for my childhood reading. Narnia, Prydain, and Middle-Earth were a lot more appealing to me than a present-day lower-middle-class neighborhood in New Jersey.
