The HT-A5000 is the step-down bar from the flagship version. It’s less expensive, with fewer channels of audio (9 compared to 11), fewer connections and less power at its disposal. I have updated some of my sources as I have been more involved. I am now using Apple Music Lossless with either an Apple Dongle or my RS6. Nvidia’s new Ampere-based pro GPUs, the Nvidia RTX A4000 and RTX A5000, offer a big step up from the Turing-based Quadro RTX family. With more memory and significantly enhanced processing, they promise to make light work of demanding real-time ray tracing, GPU rendering and VR workflows. While GPU rendering is a major play for the Nvidia RTX A4000 and Nvidia RTX A5000, real-time 3D using OpenGL, DirectX and (in the future) Vulkan continues to be a very important part of architectural visualisation, with applications including TwinMotion, Lumion, Enscape, Unreal Engine, LumenRT and others.Picture Effect(s) : 13 modes: Posterization (Color, B/W), Pop Color, Retro Photo, Partial Color (R, G, B, Y), High Contrast Monochrome, Toy Camera, Soft High-key, Soft Focus, HDR Painting, Rich-tone Monochrome, Miniature, Watercolor, Illustration Hi-Res audio files are supported as well as all the regular streamed music formats, and Sony provides a few audio processing options designed to bolster various aspects of the sound.
UPDATE: 25 March 2022. Nvidia recently launched the Nvidia RTX A4500 and RTX A5500 to held boost supply of its high-end pro workstation GPUs. Since the 2020 release the software has supported Nvidia RT cores and Tensor cores to improve rendering performance with Nvidia RTX GPUs. Users can choose to render scenes with or without denoising enabled. As we wait for AMD to deliver a Pro version of its ‘Big Navi’ Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs with hardware ray tracing, Nvidia’s biggest competitor in pro graphics is currently itself.

As you’d expect from Nvidia’s new ‘Ampere’ architecture, the Nvidia RTX A4000 also offers a significant improvement in processing. This can be seen in all areas of the GPU with more CUDA cores for general processing, third-generation Tensor Cores for AI operations and second-generation RT Cores for hardware-based ray tracing. It leads to a substantial performance increase in many different applications (see later on). Connections entail an HDMI input and output, optical input, and USB. The HDMI input can pass-through HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision signals (at 4K/60). There’s currently no 4K/120Hz support for gaming on the table. Sony’s X-Balanced speaker units differ from regular speakers in their unique, rectangular shape. This shape maximises the cone area, giving more punch per cm2. The design also reduces driver excursion, meaning you get less distortion and greater vocal clarity. Whether you’re playing music or movies, X-Balanced speakers deliver more. Ingeniously fitted within this sleek Sony soundbar is an entire 5.1.2 home cinema speaker system. Left, right and centre speakers at the front are matched with beam tweeters for an enveloping sound that wraps around you. Dual subwoofers provide the hair-raising intensity demanded by action movies. Up-firing speakers complete the Dolby Atmos/DTS:X speaker array, giving a three dimensional height to the soundstage. The camera features the new addition of NFC and Wi-Fi connectivity, which brings it into line with much of the competition. This functionality allows for the camera to be controlled via a smartphone or tablet through Sony’s PlayMemories App.
