About this deal

UK-based wine brand Amie, founded by couple Abbie Roden and Will Sandbach, has taken its first step in international expansion with the launch of a new wine bar in Seoul, South Korea, bypassing the “preconceptions” of more mature markets when it comes to young wine brands. PREVIOUS PERK: Nudge Members (+3) got a secret happy hour, with 40% off wine every evening (6pm-9pm) from 31st July to 14th August. Sporting 140 bottles hooked up to futuristic taps dotted around the room, the Vagabond drinkeries are some of the more inventive wine bars in London – and their bar in Victoria is the indecisive wine-drinker’s haven. On entry, you’ll be handed a card to top up with your tab, which you’ll then be able to swipe at any bottle to taste either a sample or a full glass. Essentially, it’s a giant vending machine of wine – only with cheese and charcuterie platters to boot. Aimee’s Wines without the fuss Club gives you the opportunity to explore new tastes, mixed with your favourites, all at a fixed, discounted price and with the added convenience of being delivered direct to your doorstep. Hidden away atop one of London’s oldest and best-respected restaurants, Upstairs at Rules is a serious delight.

amie wine studio Seoul is officially open! 〰️ We spent the last week in Seoul with our team for the opening of amie's new wine bar - amie wine studio Seoul. We started the opening week with an intimate lunch for press, a big opening party, as well as hosting our first-ever event (an art class with Seoul-based artist) in the space.

Freshly-opened Mexican joint Mezcalito is a one-stop spot for Mexican food and an abundance of mezcal. The interior can only be described as chaotic fun, with Latin American memorabilia plastering the walls. Amie continues to grow in the South Korean market. The brand is set to produce 400,000 bottles this year, a third of which will be sold in export markets, and South Korea makes up over half of sales outside the UK. Having a physical space will aid this growth further. “The Amie Wine Studio is a hub people can go to in Seoul. It’s good in terms of brand awareness for us in its own right, like a sort of permanent pop-up,” Sandbach explains.

Sitting in the shadow of The Shard, the spacious outdoor area at Vinegar Yard is a godsend for summer boozing with your buddies. Boasting a Venetian Chandelier bar and a rooftop terrace (did we mention it’s heated?) The Chapel Bar is a stunning spot for outdoor drinks in London.

The Hawk’s Nest is a garden bar hidden under a glittering arch in West London. With plenty of themed evenings – Margarita Mondays, Quiz Tuesdays, and 2-4-1 Student Wednesdays – you’re always sure to be in good company. Now, Amie is launching a second physical space in the South Korean capital of Seoul, its biggest export market. Sandbach believes that Korean consumers are more open to up-and-coming wine brands than more mature and established wine markets, making it the perfect place for expansion. Fancy drinking somewhere a little bit different? Enter The Thin White Duke, a David Bowie-esque joint with nods to Berlin and Japan. Even better, the folks at Flat Iron Square have just put up their awnings and popped on the heating to make things nice and cosy.

An old power station might not seem like the ideal setting for a great bar in London. However, you can always trust Londoners to take something grunge-y and turn it into something super cool. The emphasis is – obviously – on gin – served up in huge, fishbowl glasses popular in the Basque region of Spain. You’re also here for the terrace seating that makes an ideal location for a bit of al fresco drinking, especially when sipping on a nice european wine. Interior-wise, it’s a real wild card. One room is a tranquil Kyoto-inspired space, while another sees a huge stained glass mural of Bowie adorning the walls. It’s weird and we love it.Drinking our way around the best bars in London is something we’ve become rather good at – from Farringdon to Covent Garden, Shoreditch to Soho and London Bridge, we’ve written so many neighbourhood bar guides that it made sense to do the big one: the best bars in London. The beer – as you would expect – is great, just wrap up warm ‘cos you’re very much at the mercy of the elements. It’s only open on Saturdays and Sundays. The husband and wife team launched Amie as a direct-to-consumer wine brand three years ago during the Covid-19 pandemic.”We wanted to do something a bit different with quite minimalist design, and we knew we could source good wines,” Sandbach tells the drinks business. It’s a cool hangout spot, with a decent range of local craft beers, wines and spirits on offer and street food eats from the likes of Baba G’s, Nanny Bills and Sugo to munch on alongside.
