About this deal

Our farm covers just over 300 acres, extending along the River Eye to the east of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire. We run a traditional mixed farm, which provides a wide range of habitats for wildlife and has preserved the features so characteristic of the Leicestershire landscape – ridge and furrow grassland and a rich hedgerow network. The Brentingby team - comprising Bruce, co-owner Matt Destombes, and general manager Jake Bailey - is keen to maintain the building's heritage.

The Met Office warned that the extra rain, falling onto damp ground, could have made the flooding issues worse. It warned of the possibility of At the core of Brentingby Gin's allure is its commitment to traditional craft. The gin is distilled in a copper pot still, lovingly named 'Ayanda', which ensures a meticulous extraction of flavours from the botanicals. This method, time-consuming and demanding precision, results in a gin that is both smooth and complex. As can be imagined, dropping a scoop at speed into water would waste a good proportion. This was recognised in official operating regulations, for example in 1951 the Western Region rules had: WATER ENTERING CARRIAGES FROM WATER TROUGHS Out of all property types, Detached property has always been the most valued and flats are the lowest in valuation. Brentingby Gin is a delightful dance of botanicals. While juniper, as is customary with gins, plays a dominant role, the brand goes a step further, incorporating a range of botanicals that lend it its unique profile. From the citrusy notes of coriander and orange to the slightly spiced touch of birch bark, Brentingby Gin is an exploration of flavours, making it both versatile and distinct.Nestled in the heart of England, near the town of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, Brentingby Gin derives not just its name but its spirit from its locale. The brand proudly wears its British heritage on its sleeve, ensuring that every aspect, from distillation to bottling, embodies the authenticity and quality that the region is renowned for. The Environment Agency and other services monitored river levels throughout the county, with updates provided throughout the day. The concept of Brentingby GIn was devised in 2015. Midgely was working in the oil and gas industry and a friend had suggested he made his own gin. From there he put his heart and soul into it. And that included seeking the very best teacher he could find. As well as the name, which denotes its previous use, as the 'Fur and Feather' auction house, the bar retains original signs, such as one reminding you to 'please wash your hands after touching the animals.' There's also a collection of (artificial) birds in cages which will no doubt cause customers to do a double-take when they step through the door.

The low-key entrance also means that when you walk inside and see the bar, the visual impact is massive. This cookie is set by Addthis. This film from 1898 includes a clip around 1:33-2:45 showing a train taking water at Bushey troughs (the scoop hits the water immediately after a goods train passes by). Should the link not work, the same film appears here (with optional subtitles in five European languages). Other parts of the film are worth watching in their own right. Water trough use One source claims troughs in use by 1908; out of use or omitted from official documentation by 1936. Perhaps only planned, never installed?A yellow weather warning was in place for parts of Leicestershire today (Tuesday, October, 24.) Rain once again battered the county this morning, with the warning in place until 2pm. Over the years I’ve tried my hand at many creative things, from woodwork to fashion, and nothing really caught my attention for long enough. I’ve always enjoyed drinking gin, and it’s impossible not to have noticed the explosion of gin recently. Since the beginning we’ve looked to consult with the best people to create the best possible spirits from our small craft distillery. On Thursday 09 February an EWS freight train passed a signal at danger and derailed at a set of trap points at the end of a goods line at Brentingby Junction, near Melton Mowbray. The locomotive and the first three wagons were derailed. There were no injuries as a result of the accident, but some damage was caused to the wagons. Fur and Feather customers can look forward to live music and DJ sessions in the bar, and other events, such as gin, whisky, vodka and beer tasting sessions, as well as food pairing evenings, are also planned. Mechanical and Electrical Engineer's Outdoor Machinery District Mechanical Foreman or Local Mechanical Chargeman and responsible Water Fitter whichever is most convenient.

These were the first installed by Ramsbottom in 1859; removed 1871 and replaced by Aber [Abergwyngregyn] The immediate cause of the accident was that the driver had a microsleep approaching the signal, and was only woken after the train had derailed beyond the signal. Two causal factors were that the driver was suffering from fatigue and the use of trap points as a measure to mitigate overruns. There were several contributory factors to the incident, including that the driver had intended to stop at the signal, rather than 20m short as required. He did this to avoid walking to the signal post telephone. Owing to the risk of water entering compartments when engines are taking water whilst passing over water troughs, passengers in the leading vehicles should be warned of the advisability of keeping the windows closed when the troughs are being approached. Similarly, there could be problems with locomotive detritus falling into the troughs affecting maintenance. A 1932 LMS notice stated: WATER LEVEL, LOCOMOTIVE WATERING TROUGHS Complaint is made of difficulty in maintaining the Water in the Locomotive Water Troughs at a proper level through the presence of ashes interfering with the adjustment. Care must be taken by all Enginemen to prevent ashes falling in the Troughs, as far as this can be done, and it is a desirable expedient to close the damper doors when passing over the Water Troughs, whether water is being taken or not.The process takes between five to six hours and Midgely won’t even allow himself a comfort break until it’s complete. Brentingby Gin uses eight botanicals to create their flagship London Dry. These are juniper, coriander, angelica, orange peel, hibiscus, birch bark, liquorice root, pink grapefruit. Wheat is used as the base spirit and all eight botanicals are macerated in this during distillation inside Ayanda, the still custom-designed and assembled by Midgely. In today's age, where consumers are increasingly eco-conscious, Brentingby Gin rises to the occasion. The distillery is powered by a wind turbine, ensuring that the carbon footprint is minimal. Moreover, the brand is committed to sustainable sourcing of its botanicals, ensuring not just a high-quality gin but one that consumers can enjoy with a clear conscience. RAIB will periodically update the status of recommendations as reported to us by the relevant safety authority or public body.

Bruce says he is keen to help revive the once-thriving nighlife in the county town, and feels that Fur and Feather, together with award-winning fellow market residents Round Corner Brewing, can do just that.Brentingby Gin was launched in 2018 and Nichol and Midgely remain good friends, with the master distiller continues to advise on Brentingby projects. Sustainability As well as the premium Brentingby Gin and its 'no frills' counterpart No Nonsense - both of which are sold around the world - other gins available will include Bathtub, Brooklyn and Ermine Street. We're trying to create something the town hasn't seen before," said Bruce. "We want to encourage people to stay locally rather than feeling the need to go into Leicester or Nottingham." Brought into use 30 June 1899 some sources say 1 October 1895; taken out of use May 1961; removed August 1961; second GWR troughs
