About this deal

Not Quite Dead: Carrie, where she is somehow resuscitated by Sue after spending hours submerged in a bathtub. Carrie in this version is more similar to the book, but in modern terms. At the beginning of the film, Carrie has her first period in the showers and is harassed by Chris and her gang. Chris also films Carrie with her phone while the other girls throw tampons and sanitary napkins at Carrie. Ms. Desjardin tries to calm Carrie down and a light fixture breaks by itself. Carrie. Sue not only revives her following total immersion in the bathtub, but also keeps her hidden long enough to drive her to Florida. Helen Shyres gets combined with Frieda Jason from the book - so she gets Frieda's scene where she's nice to Carrie at the prom.

Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Inverted with Helen. She starts off seemingly as another one of the bullies, but she soon warms to Carrie and tries to stop the blood being poured. And Starring: " David Keith as Detective John Mulachy". This is notable since both the 1976 and 2013 films gave this citation to the actresses playing Margaret White ( Patricia Clarkson is credited second here instead).

This is the only adaptation of the novel to add a direct confrontation scene between Chris and Carrie before the prom.

This has the two-fold effect of highlighting Carrie’s growing sexual awareness and confidence while also making her appear more and more vulnerable as the night progresses toward its disastrous ending. She boldly displayed her handiwork and adult body to her mother, but it’s notable how she hoiked the dress up and covered herself in a shawl once she left home. Her dirty-pillows display to her mother was an act of bravado, but when she gets around her contemporaries, she does her best to withdraw and not make such a show of herself. As in the previous adaptation, Mr. Morton gets combined with Mr. Grayle to become the principal instead of the vice principal.

Never Found the Body: In a Description Cut, the investigators say this about Carrie, interspersed with a scene of Sue bringing food to Carrie in hiding, and new clothes to disguise herself. Took a Level in Kindness: Sue again, over the course of the film. Starts out with Bystander Syndrome about Carrie's bullying, tries to be The Atoner by giving up her prom night, and realizing that it's just as selfish to pretend to be good. Ray of Hope" Ending: This is the only version where Carrie survives, with Sue helping her escape to Florida. While we don't find out what happened (due to the planned mini-series being canceled), if Carrie was able to successfully hide her identity, she might have been able to have a relatively happy life after. In an alternate ending, we see Sue giving birth to the baby mentioned by Carrie. But instead of a baby, a blood-covered arm comes out (Carrie's?). Sue wakes up screaming revealing that the arm was her mother's. For all of her lonely childhood and misunderstood teenage life, Carrie, an only child, whose father abandoned his family and later died in a construction accident, was disciplined for being taken by curses and secretly abused and beaten into submission and mistreated by her mentally ill religiously fanatical mother for everything on a daily basis. Chris gets a Beta Bitch who's in on all her schemes, when she and Billy act alone in the book. Although in this case, it's more accurate to the book, making it Tina (who was friends with Chris but not a Beta Bitch) rather than Norma. Carrie manifests her powers in a state of trance (seen only in the 2002 film), while in the novel, she kills her bullies more consciously.
