About this deal

If you are starting to do more gifts that require heat transfers, or are dipping your toes in to selling tees, the EasyPress is a good stepping stone into professional heating press equipment. Cricut originally released the EasyPress in 2017, and it came only in a 9” x 9” machine. The company then release the EasyPress 2 in 2018, which comes in three different sizes: 6” x 7” (ideal for smaller items like baby clothes), 9” x 9” (ideal for everyday use), and 12” x 10” (ideal for larger format projects). It works great with traditional heat transfer vinyl, as well as the fun stuff like heat transfer foil, glitter, and metallic materials. Wait a minute…why do I need an EasyPress if I have an iron? Heat Transfer Vinyl– Make sure you are using HEAT transfer vinyl, this is a different kind, and you also have to remember to mirror the graphics before cutting them.

Learn more about Cricut materials with my tutorials for how to cut leather, how to cut chipboard on a Cricut, how to cut wood with the Maker’s knife blade, and how use Infusible Ink on coaster blanks! What is the Cricut EasyPress Mat and Do I need one? Begin at one corner of the design and press according to the setting outlined for your base and iron-on material. Once your timer beeps, move the heat press to a new section and repeat. It’s okay if the EasyPress overlaps just a bit with the previously heated area. Just make sure you don’t leave any gaps that have had no heat applied. It has the power to apply iron-on within 60 seconds or less. It is fast, efficient, and offers top quality when applying an iron-on vinyl or HTV ( Heat transfer Vinyl, as other brands call it) and sublimation (with Cricut Infusible ink projects) Enjoy your finished project! And remember to not wash your item for the first 24 hrs, to use only gentle detergents and do not use bleach =] I decided to cut this image, which is actually from the t-shirt collection by Damask Love, out of iron on to press onto my bag. However, all of the layers of each color were welded together, which makes it impossible to change the color of just one piece – without some work, that is!

Preheat your surface: Once your EasyPress has reached the desired temperature, it will beep. Now you can press your surface for about 5 seconds. If you are a serious crafter, chances are you are already considering one and all I have to say is GO FOR IT! When selecting the size, think about the kind of projects you will be making the most and choose the size that would make those projects easier. But, one thing worth mentioning is that Cricut sends you materials for you to create your first project with all cutting machines as well as with the EasyPress 2. One safety feature that I consider extremely handy is that the EasyPress 2 will shut down after 10 minutes of inactivity. Having left my iron unattended for longer than I’ve liked before, I love this feature. You don’t have to use an EasyPress Mat with the EasyPress, but it was designed for it and makes things really seamless. You want to avoid ironing boards, corrugated cardboard, and silicone baking mats/aluminum boil, which gets very very hot. Working around seams and zippers

Matching mats: With bigger (and smaller!) machines, comes a need for bigger (and smaller) mats. The Cricut EasyPress 2 mats are available in three sizes, perfectly fitted to your machine.Timer Button: This button works just like the temperature button. Press down and use the + or – to change the timer. Cricut EasyPress 10 x 12 inches: This is the biggest size of the EasyPress and it’s perfect for bigger projects where you need a larger area to transfer like:

Power button: this one turns the machine on and off. When you turn the EasyPress 2 on, it will revert to the last settings used. Infusible Ink projects have special instructions. Carefully follow the instructions for your specific project in these Infusible Ink How-To articles. While I can still press them, Ia m not sure if I get the *best* transfer, because of the seams of the onesie, I think that with a smaller press, I could get way better results. Preheat base material. Protect blank with butcher paper and move Cricut EasyPress Mini all over application area for recommended time.

Always work on a flat surface! I know that this should be a very obvious point, but many times, especially if we are in a rush, we could potentially forget to clear a flat and firm area to work with the EasyPress. This will make applying pressure so much easier.

You could also use a folded towel on a flat surface with your project on top of it. When you apply the EasyPress, the raised seam or zipper areas will flatten out since the towel material has a bit more give. 3. Use a folded towel as a filler Plug and turn your EasyPress 2 on, set your temperature: Depending on what you are using you need to set the temperature accordingly, for this sample project the temperature should be 290°F (or 145°C) and the times to 30 seconds. For shapely objects that are hollow, like shoes and hats, use a form or folded towel inside to create a firm pressing surface. Once you think about it, it makes sense because you don't want any wrinkles or moisture before pressing, and preheating takes care of that for you.
