About this deal

Ecoair DC18 is a simple to use dehumidifier ideal for an up to 4-5 bedroom house or small office. It can extract moisture up to 18 Litres/day*, introducing the compact but powerful DC18 dehumidifier, which removes an impressive 18 Litres of water per day and gives the user ultimate precision via an Intelligent Control Panel. Manage humidity levels at the touch of a button and benefit from the small unit with a "big heart". Laundry mode is included to help you dry your clothes faster. Advanced space-saving design means that we can now include a 3.5L collection tank and several advanced warning and operation indicators. Extra control means that dampness and condensation stand very little chance of taking hold. Make a difference to the air that you breathe at home. The really good thing about a dehumidifier is that you can easily see evidence of it working. Just peer into the water collection container and you’ll likely be amazed at how much moisture it has extracted from thin air (up to 25 litres a day with some models). Every so often you’ll need to empty the water container, although all of these models will switch themselves off when full. Easy to use Touch Panel with Active Humidistat, Clean Filter Indicator, 1-24H Timer, Auto Shut Off, Auto Defrost. It has a somewhat simpler design than the pricier models on this list, but still works well to limit condensation and damp; it’s capable of extracting up to 16 litres per day. The water tank can be removed from the front of the machine. If you forget to replace the tank, an alarm sounds for approximately 10 seconds. While it’s great that the tank can be removed without moving the unit, it can be difficult to empty without spilling. Portability

It can remove 20 litres of moisture per day and has an automatic ‘humidistat’ sensor (like a thermostat, but for humidity). There’s also as an easy-read digital LED display and a large 5.5 litre water-storage tank. A lot of dehumidifiers describe themselves in litres – 20 L, 16 L, 10 L and so on. This number doesn’t refer to their tank size, but instead relates to their capability – it refers to the maximum amount of water the machine can extract from the air in one day. The DC18 will indicate “Tank Full” and shut down when the collection tank is full. This unit also includes an “Auto Restart”, handy if there is any interruption to the power supply. The function will enable an automatic restart when power is restored, remembering the previous setting. Leave the tank out and an audible alarm will also sound for a period of ten seconds. Offering the flexibility of two fan speeds, and therefore the ability to reduce energy and sound footprint when in low mode. Not seen very often in this class.

EcoAir DC18 Dehumidifier Review

There are still reasons to choose a compressor dehumidifier, though. Primarily, compressor dehumidifiers are cheaper to run , which can help control energy costs. They’re also useful in hot environments where temperatures don’t drop below 15°C – but that’s not so relevant to the UK!

EcoAir classifies the DC18 dehumidifier as a compact unit and rightly so since it does not take up a lot of space (measuring in at just 52.6 x 39.4 x 27.6 cm). But, for a small appliance, it is quite heavy. The entire unit weighs about 14.5Kg. Fortunately, this dehumidifier has four castors fixed to the base, which swivel 360 degrees, to help make moving the DC18 a little easier. It would have been good, however, to have more colour options (such as you get with the MeacoDRY ABC and the EcoAir DD1). Completing the stylish modern look is a simple-to-use control panel with digital display and touch-sensitive buttons. Although this dehumidifier is described as portable, it might be larger than you would expect, measuring 22.5 x 49.5 x 35 cm. It does, however have easy-glide caster wheels to help move it across hard floors. You’ll need to choose between a ‘compressor’ and ‘desiccant’ dehumidifier. I recommend a desiccant dehumidifier for UK conservatories. These work effectively in all temperatures. Compressor dehumidifiers, on the other hand, struggle to work well if temperatures drop below 15°C. Dehumidifiers are not the most popular or glamorous of appliances, but they can be among the most useful. If you already have a good extractor fan in your bathroom or utility room you probably will never need one, although some people use them to dry clothing instead of a tumble dryer.

Some dehumidifiers will come with a hose than can be connected to funnel water away from the dehumidifier. This is especially useful if there is a lot of moisture in the air and you don’t want to be frequently emptying the tank. The following information gives a rough guide about which size dehumidifier you should buy: Mild DampEcoAir recommends waiting for at least 10 minutes before making any attempts to remove the tank. Doing so will allow any excess moisture to drip into the collection tank rather than on your floor when you are in the process of emptying. A lid further minimizes the risks for spills as you walk over to a sink or drain to empty the tank. The water pours out through a small spout, so you just have to tilt the tank to empty it. Water Extraction Rate Are power failures common in your area? No to worry, the EcoAir DC18 Compact Portable Dehumidifier comes with an auto start function that allows it to start automatically after a power failure. Not only does it start itself, but it also resumes operation according to the previous settings. How Easy Is It To Use? Although relatively heavy, there are wheels in place to make this dehumidifier easier to move around. It also has a handle for carrying.
