About this deal

Patchwork is a puzzle-like tile-placement game for two players by Uwe Rosenberg and the perfect example of not judging a book by its cover - or, in this case, a board game by its theme. There is no real catch here: Patchwork is indeed a rather peaceful game for two. But it is quite challenging and exciting, even though what you are dealing with is just patches for a quilt. Actually, those patches deserve attention. They are colorful and just a pleasure to hold in your hands and a pleasure to add to your personal quilt that you may design to look the way you want it to look. Buttons are your currency in this game. Give each player 5 buttons to start and place the rest of the buttons and the 7x7 bonus tile to the side.

With my well-documented love of Patchwork, I couldn’t do better than Elizabeth Barrett Browning when thinking of the song that is in my heart whenever I play. But now, with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Lookout Spiele have spoilt us all with our very own romance-themed edition! Set the game (time) board with the spiral facing up in the middle of the table, then place time tokens at the starting position. Place the standard patches around the board so they’re all visible. Find the smallest patch (1×2) and place the neutral token between it and the patch on the right. Learn how to play with your opponent, discover interesting moves and share ideas to have a great time with the game for a very long time. Pros & Cons Pros: The last step is to move the time token by the amount specified on the patch bought. If your token ends up behind your opponents, or on top of theirs, you get to play again. Special Rules The game ends when both players have run out of time - in other words, when they’ve reached the middle of the time board.

Patchwork is a game for players of all ages. Understanding the main concepts takes only a few minutes, and with some patience, even pre-school kids can grasp the gameplay. The competition is important, but in a game like Patchwork, it’s much more important than both players have fun. You wouldn’t want to dominate the game and have nobody to play it with. Now, I’m not saying this tasty little roll and write fixed me up some magic pencils, but it did make me put a bit more effort into making something look less toddleresque. Gameplay In a board games review by Wirecutter, Patchwork was described as being "similar to Tetris but with a sewing theme" and a "surprisingly complex challenge". [3] McMillan states that the game is deceptively "peaceful and harmonious" on first inspection, but once the game is in progress it becomes evident that the game is "devious and cutthroat". [1] He also states that beginners may finish their first few games with negative scores. [1] More experienced players may play by "trying to make it impossible for [their] opponent to fill" their quilt. [1]

Patchwork is a two player game in which players are trying to complete a patchwork quilt. To do so they must collect tiles of various shapes and sizes and fit them onto their quilt board. Players want to collect pieces with buttons on, as this will give them the ability to get more patches for their quilt. However, they must also keep an eye on the time board to ensure their quilt is as completed as possible when time runs out.

A: You calculate the negative sum exactly. It is important to find out the difference between the players’ scores, even if they are both negative. Choose which side of the time board you’d like to play with and place it in the middle of the table. There is no difference between the sides, choosing a side is simply a matter of aesthetic preference. You have to keep an eye on your opponent because they are more than likely to accidentally grab the patch you desperately need! You cannot have a successful strategy if you think only about your own quilt and ignore your opponent’s actions. Patchwork Doodle is therapeutic. There is no denying how easy going and relaxed a game this is. I’ve played other roll and writes, and I can’t deny there is more of a relaxed feel to them over other games. This game, however, is truly chilled. It doesn’t require you to be around a table, which is great. It’s also very mobile, so long as you have coloured pencils and somewhere to place the cards. Even then it doesn’t require masses of space. I’d even argue it is compact enough to be an ideal travel game!
