About this deal

You can apply at any time from April to September but the best time is in spring when the existing weeds are growing strongly and before too many new seeds have germinated. 2. Choose a dry day Value for Money: When assessing value for money, I identified how many litres of weed killer you received, the treatment area it covers, and the price point. Products that covered a higher surface area and still retained their effectiveness (for example, a 2 L bottle able to cover over 3000 sqm) were rated higher than those that only covered a smaller surface area for the same – or similar – price. I also assessed the additional features that come with a weed killer, as these products give you better value for money. The usual function gets stopped where the cells get damaged, and finally, weeds stop their growth and start to shred its leaves. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for, and the powerful Elixir Gardens Barclay Gallup Weed Killer formula does not come cheap. To make things a bit more difficult, this weedkiller is a concentrate that requires you to measure out the amount necessary and does not provide a spray bottle.

Although even with 12 sachets included, the Deadfast Weed Killer only mixes for a total of 1 ⅕ L if you want to use it as a spray weedkiller. Still, even with such a small amount of water compared to other formulas, this weedkiller offers solid coverage at 60 m2 per sachet for a total coverage of 720 m2.

One disadvantage of using this weed killer is that you have to be careful with disposing of your grass clippings. Because of the chemicals used, grass clippings should not be disposed of in the standard council-collected green waste. If you choose to compost them , they need to be composted for at least 9 months before being suitable to use as mulch on the garden. Moreover, choose the growing season for that weed because weeds without leaf can’t absorb the solution. The Gallup Home & Garden Weed Control has been promoted as the strongest weed killer available for domestic use, and it did work very well. I noticed visible results within 24 hours, and the roots were killed within a couple of weeks. It’s been designed for both annual and deep-rooted perennial weeds. Its significant result varies depending on when and how do you apply it all matters. It is effective at low temperatures.

Apply weedkiller very carefully during the dry and calm days where rain and wind are not expected. Apply this product more than 100m2. It’s also used to rehabilitate weed-infested areas. If you don’t want to kill your plants and lawns, don’t use them over there. Seasonal Use Unfortunately, as a consumer-grade weedkiller, this formula is not the strongest we found with only 7.2 g/l of glyphosate – the most diluted on our list. This leads to a smaller coverage area as well with each L only covering 30 m2 and the whole container only covering a total of 150 m2 – though it starts working in 1 to 2 days. The weed killer is straight forward to apply, and there’s a built-in pump pressure sprayer which helps spread the liquid. When sufficiently pumped, the pressure sprayer bottle projects the weed killer to around 120 cm, keeping the product away from your hands.

As drives, paths and patios are usually unplanted areas, a more long-lasting solution is to use a residual weedkiller combining glyphosate/diflufenican (SBM Job done Path Weedkiller (Ready-to-use only), Job done Tough Weedkiller ( Ready-to-use) orWeedol Pathclear range). It comes as a concentrated liquid, so you need to dilute the weed killer before applying it to the garden. This is done by adding 30 ml of weed killer into 6 L of water (if using a watering can and a fine rose). This produces enough weed killer solution to treat an area of 10 m². Residual typed weedkiller means it leaves a barrier onto the surface to prevent new seedlings for a while. As a systemic weed killer, it is very effective at killing off both annuals and perennials, especially the latter which can be some of the toughest to deal with in a garden. This means it can easily kill off deep rooted weeds along with shallower weeds, so it’s suitable for most applications around the garden. Some weed killers won’t get degraded in the soil. It keeps on giving trouble to the ground where seedlings won’t rise due to chemicals that won’t evaporate; it stays for many days.
