About this deal

Based on our analysis, the Asus 28" VG289Q and Asus 28" VG289Q1A monitors both have a 90% DCI-P3 color gamut, which we found was excellent for gaming. If you plan to play HDR games or watch 4K video, however, you should activate Windows HDR. The impact wasn’t huge, but we could see a difference with HDR-enabled content. As an edge lit IPS monitor, there’s a limit to the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q's available dynamic range. But the tone mapping that comes with HDR in general did provide a bit of extra pop. Other features include Shadow Boost (alters the gamma curvature for better visibility of objects in shadows) and two different HDR modes: HDR Cinema and HDR Gaming. Color Gamut refers to the range of colors that a monitor can display. A wide color gamut means the monitor can display more colors, creating a more vibrant and lifelike image. A common question that comes with HDR monitors is whether or not one should turn on Windows’ HDR mode. The simple answer is that it depends on the application. For word processing and spreadsheet work, Windows HDR mode usually doesn’t provide any benefit. In the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q's case, Windows HDR mode actually lowered contrast on the desktop. We turned up the brightness control in the Control Panel, which helped somewhat, but for typical workday tasks, it’s better to leave HDR off.

Approximate height of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the height is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio. That doesn’t change the fact that the gaming experience could be smoother . Again, it’s not bad, but for detail-oriented or Esports gamers, a monitor with a faster response time and possibly refresh rate might be a better buy. The static contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce simultaneously, for example, within one and the same frame/scene.The most widely used panels are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the RGB components of the pixel. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively. Next, the response time speed is 5ms GtG, and there’s no prominent ghosting or motion blur in fast-paced video games. You can use the TraceFree feature in the OSD (On-Screen Display) menu to tweak the response time overdrive. The resolution is another critical aspect of a gaming monitor. The resolution is measured in pixels; the more pixels a monitor has, the sharper the image will be. A higher resolution results in a clearer and more detailed picture.

The picture quality is excellent out of the box, though you might want to decrease the brightness a bit. Information of the number of pixels in a unit of length. With the decrease of the display size and the increase of its resolution, the pixel density increases. The operating altitude shows the maximum admissible altitude, at which the display will function flawlessly. Above this level it might not operate properly and/or might seize to function. Information about whether there is a possibility for wall mounting according to the VESA Mounting Interface Standard (MIS). The built-in speakers are 2 watts a piece and sound a bit tinny. You can’t crank the volume too high, but they are clear enough to work when there isn’t a better alternative available. OSD Featureson Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q

Now you can choose from multiple HDR modes to adjust monitor HDR performance based on the current viewing scenario Information about whether the stand can be dismounted. Usually, this is required for wall mounting. Even if you have a powerful graphics card, you should consider acquiring a higher refresh rate display for games as it makes for a lot more enjoyable gaming experience. Dimensions, weight and color Information about the dimensions and the weight of the specific model with and without stand as well as the colors, in which it is offered to the market. Width

Supports both Adaptive-Sync with NVIDIA GeForce* graphics cards and FreeSync with AMD Radeon graphics cards *Compatible with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10 series, GTX 16 series, RTX 20 series and newer graphics cards Change settings in monitor before switching to HDR mode in Windows, because you cannot change any monitor settings in HDR mode. (choose different modes in "GameVisual" category, I think Cinema Mode and Racing Mode or something allows you to change brightness, contrast, and even saturation.) Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image. The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area. Also, it literally gives off any heat at all somehow even though it's so huge and powerful! It even has cheesy speakers don't expect much there though haha.TUF Gaming VG289Q1A is a 28-inch, 4K UHD, IPS display with superior images, 90 % DCI-P3 color space designed for professional gamers. It also features FreeSync/Adaptive-Sync technology, for extremely fluid gameplay without tearing and stuttering. ASUS also offers the VividPixel and ASCR (dynamic contrast ratio) features, which we recommend turning off for the best picture quality. The ASUS TUF-series monitor is based on a 28″ AAS (IPS) panel by Innolux with 178° wide viewing angles, a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio, a 350-nit peak brightness and a wide 90% DCI-P3 color gamut with dithered 10-bit depth support. With the ASUS VG289Q, you just get a glimpse of what HDR can do. Some HDR content will look a bit better, and some will not. Usually, console games benefit more from this type of HDR support than PC content.

Added the ASUS TUF Gaming VG247QR1A to the Variants section. It's a similar monitor, but with a VA panel, and it's sold at Best Buy.
