Even in level one, the motor contributed all the way up to 25km/h – it just wasn’t doing quite as much as in either of the two higher levels. Here at ebiketips we tend to think that’s a better way of setting up an e-bike than having lower assistance levels that are only there for riding at 15km/h or whatever. As you begin to move, the ADO A20 up to the maximum speed based on the level selected. Operating in gear 7 on the flat and gentle inclines, it’s easy to keep up the speed and continue moving at the maximum speed. On the flat or downhill, the gearing is high enough that you can push the bike faster. I regularly hit near-20mph on some stretches of my commute. If you aren’t bothered by the legality issue and are willing to take the risk, that’s your choice. I would personally advise against it, but if you do choose to ride one of these on the road, always ride sensibly, be respectful and don’t draw attention to yourself (and remove the throttle). A lighter-framed bike will be suitable if you want to commute at a reasonable speed or need to carry your commuter upstairs or down the subway. I’ll continue testing the Ado A26 to see how the battery fairs and update this article accordingly – I would say a realistic range would be in the region of 30 miles (48km).
