About this deal

With a focus on clear sound, the Katana Artist Mk2 has been specifically voiced for optimum response between the speaker and cab. Diverse Amp Characters and Effects Updated BOSS Tone Studio editor software for customizing sounds with over 60 BOSS effects; newly added editor features include pre and post EQs, dedicated Pedal FX, and more lbs 15 oz * 0 dBu = 0.775 Vrms *The specifications are subject to change without notice. The BOSS Katana Amp Range: Choose Your Weapon Expanded Cab IR Capabilities-The Line Out cabinet IR options now include selectable microphone types and positions, giving you greater control of your direct sound. The effects section follows the same pattern as other Katanas with two split rotary level controls - one for boost and mod effects, the other for Delay and FX - and a third un-split level control dedicated to reverb. Above each level knob is a small button switch that accesses three pre-loaded choices for each effect position, colour-coded by an LED that lights up in red, green or yellow. There’s also a tiny illuminated tap-tempo switch for manual delay time setting.

BOSS Tone Studio has also evolved alongside the Katana MkII amplifiers. The interface has been updated with a refreshed look, and many parameters have been consolidated into the main screen for faster workflow. There’s also a dedicated Pedal FX category, making it easier to assign wah and pedal bend effects to a connected expression pedal. And if you’re a first-gen Katana owner, it’s possible to import your custom patches and use them all with the Katana-Artist MkII. KATANA MKII VERSION 2—NEW CREATIVE TOOLS Series/parallel effect loop, external speaker outputs, and power amp input for preamps, modelers, and multi-effectsThe output distortion of the Katana not only produces the natural distorted sound but works like a tube amp, the sound becomes richer and breaks up as you crank up the volume. The great thing is that you can work this feature without having to push the volume out too loud by adjusting the variable power control.

Three-way Contour for shaping the overall tonal color and Global EQ switch with three settings (customizable in BOSS Tone Studio) The Katana-Artist MkII Head comes equipped with all the core features from its acclaimed combo sibling. Five unique amp characters and five variations provide 10 different tone options, while five simultaneous effects categories put the sound-shaping power of a massive pedalboard right inside your amp. And with BOSS Tone Studio, you can customize the onboard effects with over 60 different types and dive deep into internal parameters to craft your personal sound. BOSS Tone Studio editor software for customizing sounds with over 60 BOSS effects, pre and post EQs, dedicated Pedal FX, and more BOSS’s Tube Logic architecture delivers the same output distortion you’d expect from authentic tube amps. However, both the feel and sound increase in responsiveness and richness when you decide to increase the volume. A variable power control ensures you’ll find the perfect middle ground between being too overpowering, or too quiet. Absolute CharacterTube Logic design approach produces class-defying power, authoritative punch, and cutting presence. Using the optional GA-FC foot controller turns the Katana into a formidable performance tool, with access to all eight patches, volume control and an assignable expression pedal. The Katana’s effects are good enough to replace many pedalboards, however stompbox diehards will also enjoy the Artist’s loop, which can be remotely switched in and out from the foot controller or MIDI. External control support via GA-FC/GA-FC EX foot controller, footswitches, expression pedal, and MIDI. This is down to the analogue A/B Power Amp, which is the same type found on iconic valve amps. This means that the very heart of the amplifier reacts just like a valve amp, giving that essential breakup sound and dynamic response that they are synonymous for. Each Katana Amp can have its power output changed, meaning it is ready to be used in any playing environment you should ever need. It can be ran at gig volume, practice and bedroom volumes. You can even run it on headphones for silent practice too.

You can save your custom settings in the onboard Tone Setting memories. Eight Tone Settings are available, (Two banks of Four) and are easily recalled via the GA-FC Foot Controller. Inputs, Outputs Solo boost with onboard level control (dedicated delay and EQ can be applied to the Solo boost in Boss Tone Studio). Plugged in and switched on, the Katana Artist sounds come over as real, with excellent dynamic response and plenty of punch from the superb British-voiced Waza Craft loudspeaker, which combines plenty of volume with bright, slightly edgy highs, a woody midrange thump and plenty of bass from the oversized cabinet. This can be emphasised with the Deep cabinet resonance mode engaged, although our preference was for Vintage mode, which would sit in a live band mix better. Boss Tone Studio editor software for customizing sounds with over 60 Boss effects, pre and post EQs, dedicated Pedal FX, and more. The Katanas don’t play ‘what’s my line?’ with amp models, so you won’t hear facsimiles of any other well-known designs. However, much of the next generation Tube Logic technology was based on classic tweed amps from the 1950s and this is reflected in the clean and crunch sounds, which are among the most impressive low and medium gain models we’ve heard. Five amp characters (with five variations) offer ten contrasting tonal options to select from. Alongside them, make use of the five simultaneous effects options; its almost like having your very own custom pedalboard inside an amp! This can all be tweaked and customised further via BOSS Tone Studio. This editor is filled to the brim with 60+ effects, allowing for some serious levels of experimentation. BOSS Tone Studio Updates Mic'd cabinet emulation on the line, USB, and phones/recording outputs, with three Air Feel settings available in BOSS Tone Studio So on the amp itself you have direct control over effects levels, which is really all you need, but tweakers need not worry as the Katana’s software app provides more than enough gratification with, typically, six parameters to play with on most effects. Pre-set counters will have already worked out the Katana Artist can hold 15 different effects including reverbs; you can choose from no less than 58 different models in the latest Version 2 software and load them into the amp, which can use up to three simultaneously. There are four patch select buttons with an A/B bank select switch, which access the Artist’s eight on-board memory slots when the foot controller isn’t in use. New Pedal FX section makes it easier to set up foot-controlled wah and pedal bend effects in BOSS Tone Studio

On the front panel, you’ll find some exclusive features only available with the Katana-Artist MkII. A three-way Contour switch lets you shape the amp's core tone, while three selectable Global EQ settings (adjustable in BOSS Tone Studio) are great for fine-tuning the overall sound for different guitars and styles. A foot-controllable, post-amp Solo boost function is also available, with a dedicated panel knob for fast adjustment. Integrated Dual Amp Support With its built-in BOSS effects, the Katana-Artist lets you perform anywhere with just a guitar and amp. Connecting to BOSS Tone Studio via USB provides access to 65 fully customizable effects, and you can load your favorites into the amp’s various effects sections. Going beyond standard distortion, delay, and reverb, the selection includes powerful tone-shapers like pitch shifting, ring mod, channel and global EQs, and many more. There’s also an effects loop for patching in that external gear you can’t live without. And via BOSS Tone Studio, you’re able to move the loop’s position, adjust input/output gain, and select series/parallel operation as needed. Version 3 Effects and Control Features The Katana-Artist MkII elevates the premier model in the Katana lineup with next-generation features and flexibility. Newly voiced variations for all five amp characters double your tone choices, while onboard effects categories have been expanded from three to five. Exclusive front-panel controls provide even more sound-shaping options, including a three-way Contour switch, Global EQ with three customizable curves, and a Solo boost with adjustable level. And with powerful new dual amp functionality, it’s easy to link and control two Katana-Artist MkIIs for massive, ultra-wide tones. Refined Sound for Professional Performers
