The "Cherry Tree" was just a big old mess from the opening scene until the end. I again was left scratching my old bald head asking way too many questions about such a simple movie. The dialogue was unbelievable, as was the young girl's introduction to the coven. Save the girl who played the innocent, the acting was "adequate." A boring couple have their home invaded by some scumbags looking to exact revenge on their son. The usual tying up and degradation of the main characters takes place. The problem is I didn't care about them. The characters were so clichéd and one dimensional that I felt nothing for them. Treatment: Once brown rot infects your cherries, there are no curable treatments for the fruit. Cherry Tree was the opening film for Frightfest 2015 and I can only conclude the festival organizers wanted to get it out of the way asap. You can tell the two have issues between them through awkward talk at the dinner table. Michael (Tom Butcher) and Christine (Rachael Blake) have a strained relationship. He doesn't trust her after she confessed to an indiscretion. They also have an issue with their son Sebastien (Tom Kane) who have been hanging out with the wrong sort. Their conversation is low, so I needed to crank up the volume to hear what they were saying. What was with the still camera in the opening bedroom shot?
