About this deal

This isn’t DreamWorks’ first foray into kart racing by a long shot. DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing stands on the shoulders of 2006’s Shrek Smash n’ Crash Racing, 2009’s Madagascar Kartz, and 2011’s DreamWorks Super Star Kartz, all of which featured a raceable Shrek. Randall Duk Kim, the voice of Grand Master Oogway in the Kung Fu Panda films, is the only original voice actor to reprise his role for the game. Meanwhile, there were several licensed Shrek video games released during the lovable (if crude) green ogre’s theatrical heyday. While most of these games were standard movie tie-in fare that was soon forgotten, there are still plenty of gamers with fond memories of playing the team-oriented Shrek 2 game or 2005’s Super Smash Bros. clone Shrek SuperSlam. In the years since Shrek’s last cinematic outing, gamers have kept his memory alive through memes and mods that inserted him into titles like Resident Evil 3 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. To play this game on PS5, your system may need to be updated to the latest system software. Although this game is playable on PS5, some features available on PS4 may be absent. See PlayStation.com/bc for more details. All-Star Racing Roster – Hit the kartway with 20 fan-favourite DreamWorks Animation characters, including Shrek, Po, Tigress, Boss Baby, Puss in Boots, Hiccup, Astrid and many more!

The so-called DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing isn’t due out for a few months yet, but that hasn’t stopped DreamWorks and team from posting a trailer or two to give us a deeper insight into what’s to come. Kung Fu Panda in a tiny candy-popping kart? Sure, why not? But that’s not all it’ll bring, as made clear by the elevator pitch the studio posted earlier this week. Interested? If so, then here’s everything you will need to know before signing the waiver and getting behind the wheel. Take it away, Puss. What Is DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing? The game features full voice acting, complete with banter between the characters. Many lines have the characters call each other out by name, or through name calling. Despite being revealed as Death in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, he is still referred to as "Wolf" in the game. Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands) may take longer to reach you.

NL was way too harsh on NASB2. The performance is really not that bad, other than the load times, which can last up to 30 seconds just to start a match. There are also certain missions in the campaign where the game just doesn't load at all, which is a pretty egregious oversight. But the devs have said they have it fixed and are rolling out a patch for that, as well as the load times and frame drops. The courses are neatly undulating and make great use of the films they’re based on. Mongo stands astride the city of Far Far Away from Shrek, as you dodge the King and Queen’s stretch limo-carriage. The Cave of Lost Souls from Puss in Boots is stitched together with portals, taking you into a Ghost Train-like experience with Death staring at you from its walls. DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing will be heading to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC via Steam at some point in 2023. As for when in 2023 it’ll see the light of day remains a mystery, though it’s fair to say that it’ll be targeting a Q4 launch, perhaps to coincide with the pre-holiday season rush, if anything. The extended Shrek family is strongly represented in DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing; the eponymous ogre, his ogre wife Fiona, Donkey, and Puss in Boots are all playable racers. Wolf from Puss In Boots: The Last Wish is also playable, but one of two characters exclusive to a digital deluxe version of the game (the other is Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda). Each character will have their own kart — Shrek’s looks all swampy, Fiona’s is onion-inspired, and Donkey’s is modeled after the mother of his children — that can be upgraded with cosmetics and other customizations.

The first time the four original main characters from Shrek were featured together since Shrek 4-D in 2003. DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing is exactly what it sounds like — a kart racing game featuring none other than a collected bunch of friendly faces and misfits stripped directly from some of the animation studio’s most celebrated works. To this end, players can expect to dive into a Mario Kart-type experience as heroes such as Shrek, Po, Alex the Lion, and even Boss Baby, for crying out loud. Sound like your typical run-of-the-mill karting game with a touch of DreamWorks’ signature paint? That’s because it is — and it’s doing nothing to tell us otherwise. Not that it’s a problem, mind you. It’s about time we received a spiritual successor to 2009’s Shrek Kart, to be fair. Kill Count Coffin (decorated with the red illustrations of Puss' deaths with numbers, including "9" on the side doors)Even on Xbox Series X|S the graphics are a little rough. We recently came from a review of Disney Speedstorm, and the difference is night and day. That game’s overblown visual flourishes and dynamism is completely absent here, and DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing ends up looking a little drab and basic as a result. AWESOME KARTS: Each kart draws its distinct design from the unique personality of its DreamWorks character-driver! Put your very own twist on the kart with hundreds of parts and accessory combinations to level up! At the time of writing, GameMill Entertainment hasn’t released any footage to showcase DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing in all its glory. Needless to say that the likelihood of it getting a launch trailer at some point in the next several weeks seems pretty high. Until then, all we’ve got are the screenshots. Release Date, Platforms & Editions Two additional characters will be available as part of DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing’s Deluxe Edition: Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda and Wolf from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish . Characters from the Troll movies will host each race, and players will be able to collect Trolls to race alongside them for added support. The game will also feature classic locations from the movies these characters hail from, such as the Kingdom of Far Far Away from the Shrek sequels, Bergen Town from Trolls, the Spirit Realm from Kung Fu Panda, Baby Corp from The Boss Baby, and New York City Zoo from Madagascar. There are references to his true identity however, which includes quotes from The Last Wish, his kart being a coffin, and a new line, "I'm here Farquaad!"
