About this deal

I feel strongly that baked beans and spaghetti hoops are very different, and so their sauces should be formulated accordingly. For me, this was the worst flavour of the lot. HP is perhaps one of the lesser-known brands when it comes to baked beans, so I didn't have any expectations when it came to trying them. Around a third also found the beans too firm and not sweet enough. The size of the tins are the same but the weights of the beans we tested ranged from 400g up to 420g. Prices and availability correct as of 27 February 2023. The news will be a blow to Heinz, which recently clung on to its first place in a Which? ketchup taste test, but had to share its crown with Co-op's own brand tomato sauce, which costs less than half the price.

Most baked bean brands have low-sugar/low-salt versions, so you may want to give them a try if you're watching your intake. We only included standard versions in our taste test to ensure products were comparable. Cancer study finds a 'significant' link to everyday processed foods like crisps, biscuits and ready meals

Despite losing points on the texture, the taste was pleasant and fairly middle-of-the road. Overall, a decent option if you're looking to save cash on named brands. Tesco Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce (50p/420g) – 71% Which? said: "Which said: "The beans themselves were a good texture, but some thought the sauce too runny and most found the flavour too weak." It’s crucial protection – not just for the elderly – and more important than a will Last on the list is Aldi. This supermarket has long been known as the enemy of the so-called "brand snobs" but over the years has managed to convert some shoppers thanks to its low prices.
