Ditto with the arm length, which I finalized before taping the inside seams so that I wouldn’t have to do one bit of extra work with the fabric tape. And since I only plan to wear this Halloween costume a couple times and mostly in the dark, I didn’t think anyone would notice (and in fact, no one has). My boys were really excited and wondered if I was going to be Leia when she visits Jabba the Hut. As in Slave Leia. Not really my style. I told them I was going to be Endor Leia. I have already been the traditional Leia and I wanted to switch it up. Step 3: Dip a newspaper strip into the mixture and remove any excess mixture by sliding your fingers from the top to the bottom of the strip. This step took a few tries to get right. I didn’t want to over cut and end up with super tight sleeves and a snug body shape. Medium gray vest with cap sleeves. Medical frigate Gown This step is much easier said than done, and was by far the hardest part of this DIY No Sew Easy Princess Leia costume. I admit I literally sweated a bit during this stage, until I realized that no one was going to see a slightly crooked or rumpled seam.top stitched line down the entire front left and front right side of the vest ending at the waist band. The stitching is approximately 1″ / 2.5 cm from the front edge of the vest. Princess Leia wears this suit throughout the film, from the time the Rebels arrive on Hoth to the time they escape the planet. She also wears it during the Battle of Hoth. The white vest is worn with high boots and braids wrapped around her head. Step 4: Place the strip onto the inflated beach ball. Smooth out any bumps or creases with your fingers or a paintbrush. Repeat this step until the entire beach ball is covered with a layer of strips. For the second layer, place the strips horizontally and for the third layer, place the strips vertically. Alternating the direction of the strips will make the paper mache structure sturdier.
