CONVENIENT FEATURES: Get Together 2 offers multi-pair technology to enables you to pair and connect your headset to two different Bluetooth audio devices at once. The result is that, as you increase the volume, this frequency imbalance becomes more pronounced. At about 60-70% volume, you get the sense that you’ve hit the Get Together Duo’s sweet spot in terms of fidelity, but it comes with sharply increased sibilance and brightness from the tweeters. It can be a bit painful.
While all Bluetooth speakers are wireless speakers (except while charging), not all wireless speakers are Bluetooth speakers. Some wireless speakers use Wi-Fi to connect, or other wireless protocols different than Bluetooth. DO YOU NEED WI-FI FOR A BLUETOOTH SPEAKER? Nope! Bluetooth speakers do not require Wi-Fi connectivity. In fact, Bluetooth in general does not rely on Wi-Fi or internet connectivity. Though it can be a bit confusing when you first pull the Get Together Duo speakers out of their highly recyclable box, it’s possible to use them together or individually. You can connect to them wirelessly if you have a Bluetooth phone, tablet, or PC, or you can connect with analog cables if you have a turntable, iPod, or another music source. The speakers are very compact, standing only 7.8 inches tall, and they’re shallow enough to fit even the smallest bookcase shelf.
Measuring 7.9 x 4.1 x 5.1 inches (HxWxD), the twin Get Together Duo speakers cut fine figures. With their natural bamboo housings (in keeping with its sustainability theme, House of Marley notes that bamboo is “one of the fastest growing plants in the world”) and “Rewind” fabric coverings (a mix of reclaimed and recycled cotton, hemp, and polyester), the Get Together Duos boast a stylish yet earthy look that matches its other Get Together speakers. It’s worth noting, however, that the dark fabric covering is a lint magnet. [ Further reading: The best smart speakers and digital assistants ] The right speaker contains a rechargeable battery so it can operate without any wires for a claimed 20 hours, but the left speaker needs to be plugged into an outlet. CONVENIENT FEATURES: Bass Boost EQ // Make the most of the sound while outdoors or bring a little extra thump to the party with multiple EQ modes. However, if you want to use the wired connection for stereo operation, you need to consider placement.Because of their various wired and wireless connections, the Get Together Duos offer a variety of interesting connectivity options, including fully wired, fully wireless, and a combination of both. The top controls on the Get Together Duo speakers include buttons for volume, Bluetooth, and power, plus Bluetooth and power LED indicators.
This would be helped by some form of EQ adjustment — I found myself wishing for a way to just take the edge off the highs — but there’s no app for the Get Together Duo, and no way to tweak their EQ with hardware settings.
