About this deal

Turbo: 1500 lumens; 2 minutes run-time ~ 600 lumens; 2 hour, 57 minutes run-time; 175 m beam range* I’d think twice before using the Olight Baton 3 Pro flashlight or most strobing flashlights as a breakdown warning light on the highway, or as a bicycle headlight strobe. A rapid frequency strobe is at a minimum, distracting and irritating, but could be seizure-inducing in some individuals. And I know strobe is sometimes marketed as a weapon but I hope you’ll reconsider that perspective. If the Baton 3 had a slower frequency strobe I’d use it on my bike. But it would work well as an ‘always on’ bike light. The indicator light on the magnet will go red while charging is in progress and turn green once charging is complete after approximately 3 hours, 30 minutes when charging the included battery if the power supply is sufficient enough to support the 2 A output, otherwise the cable will output at a lower rate or 1 A or 1.5 A depending on the power supply.

Like many other Olights, the Olight Baton 3 Pro flashlight uses Olight’s very common proprietary magnetic charging connector. The charging base on this light is just a charge base and doesn’t double as a two-stage switch as we see on a light like the Warrior Mini 2. Predecessors of the Baton 3 Pro have had different side switches. But compared to the Olight S2R Baton II, the side switch of Baton 3 Pro is 56% times larger. Since 2007, Olight has been a real headache for low-quality flashlight brands, even for critical reviewers like myself, just because of their high quality. The Olight Baton 3 Pro Silver Ridge is now available! It’s a rechargeable flashlight using an 18650 cell and offers high output and a familiar user interface. The dimensions of Olight Baton 3 were as follows; length of 2.48 inches, head and body dia of 0.83 inches. It has a very easy user interface. Just press the button on the recessed side switch to turn it on. Hold the button to scroll through power outputs. Baton 3 Pro Max Lighting The Seeker 4 Pro is another floody torch from Olight. Although with its high brightness it still has a very respectable range of 260m (16,895cd) – a little up on the Seeker 3 Pro’s 250m.

The holster has an integrated magnetic charging pad at its base, and a USB-C port to charge the torch in the holster. Here’s really the main issue with this emitter. It’s green. This is more noticeable on the low modes. In the highest couple of levels, it’s trending toward “ok”, but the positive Duv on the lower modes is not something I look for in an emitter. I’m still in awe! Olight points out how this is a 30% increase in all performance categories compared to S2R Baton II. Comfortable Small-volume Dimensions

What I’d change

Measurement disclaimer: Testing flashlights is my hobby. I use hobbyist-level equipment for testing, including some I made myself. Try not to get buried in the details of manufacturer specifications versus measurements recorded here; A certain amount of difference (say, 10 or 15%) is perfectly reasonable. What’s Included Knowing the industry, this price is likely to rise with the usual high demand for Olight. Recommended Place to Buy A battery level indicator built into the side switch that lets you know when the battery needs charging. A green light indicates above 60% power, an orange light indicates 10-60 % power, a red light indicates less than 5-10% power and a red blinking light means less than 5% power and that the torch needs to be charged. The Neutral White can crank up to 2,500 lumens for one minute in turbo mode. After that one minute, it drops to 800 lumens, which the light can maintain for 240 minutes.

Please note: *The above data is measured in lab conditions, therefore results may vary due to environmental and heat dissipation conditions. The active thermal management system will decrease the output in turbo and high to protect the LED from overheating. Finally there’s a strobe operated with a triple press of the power button with the torch on or off. Performance There are a few models of the Baton 3 Pro Max available, including Cool White, Neutral White, and Warm White. I tested the Neutral White, which produces light color between 4,000 and 5,200 kelvin. That’s moderately warm, and you get better color rendering than cooler light. I did test the fully regulated 300 lumen mode in my lumen chamber and got just over 8 hours at the full 300 lumens before it turned off – no quite the full 11 hours Olight spec but still pretty good. Runtimes (source: Olight manual)I like the sealed nature of the Olight Baton 3 charging system. I’ll have to remember the cable if I take the Baton 3 on travel. Some might like the universality of a USB-C port on a flashlight or built into the battery. I’m not often a cable loser, so the Olight system is ok with me. I’m very pleased to now see USB-C charging support, but I would have preferred it on the torch or battery itself. And I think for the price Olight could have included a magnetic charging cable as well – it’s still one of the most convenient methods of charging a torch I’ve tried. Of course, the base of the Olight Baton 3 Pro Silver Ridge flashlight is magnetic because of the way this light charges. But that magnetic base also serves as a great connection point for the Baton 3 Pro, too. Forgot to get a photo of that in action, though! Power and Runtime
