About this deal

All of this makes up an incredibly fun cast in our more tense and worrying plot. Seeing these characters deal with the rough situations they end up in means we get to see how their views change throughout this. I found this incredibly satisfying to watch. The Blood That Binds Us has a captivating plot that drew me in immediately, with wonderful world building and immense political intrigue as we learn more about the various forms of magic and the oppressive castes systems in this world. The Blood That Binds Us, @erinmainordauthor’s debut novel is everything! I was consumed by this story as it kept me reading late into the midnight hours. Widen your stance." I obey, walking my feet out so I'm spread a little farther. "Someone could hear us," I say, looking at the guards chortling with each other as they make their rounds beneath us.

The long awaited sequel to S.L Cokeley’s This Blood that Binds Us is here! A cute college town romance with a badass FMC and a Golden retriever of a vampire MMC? Also found family vibes with the MMC’s protective brothers? Say less! There is probably no better found family than this one—each little group you encounter has the most solid chosen family going on and I loved that element so much 🥰 The second biggest problem with this was the dialogue. It was... not great. Everything was said so bluntly. Subltly and realism went straight out the window while this was being written. A perfect example of this is as follows. FMC is feigning interest in a guy so she can extract info from him. The first time she gets him alone, she immediately begins asking about the topic that she's extracting info about. Genuinely, she doesn't deviate from the topic ONCE during their date. And the guy isn't suspicious or put off by this at all. It was all very clunky and had no sense of subtlety or realism whatsoever.

I also wish we saw more vampire problems mixed in with their college life. For example there was more alcohol dinking than blood drinking. We also don’t see any college life besides the parties on the weekends. As characters, Wren and Sin are flawed, but I continued rooting for them through all of the angst. Wren is a strong and sassy woman who you don’t want to cross, while Sin is legit SWOONY and complex as a morally grey character. I kid you not when I tell you that I was on the edge of my seat, waiting for them to get together and when they did... The bond of family isn’t limited to DNA. It’s the love, respect, and support that truly define it.” Yes, Hannah, what?" He snapped and she startled, looking at him warily. She had been doing that more and more recently.Romance? No. If you want a slow burn that burns so slow you don't get a kiss - even in the epilogue - then sure. But there is no actual romance or love in this story. She grabs his wrist and that's about it. Even their final "proclamation" of love is FILLED with the word "hypothetical," and I mean that literally. We meet some really incredible new characters in this book (you can just be prepared to love Skylar the most), and there is constant action in this—I never felt like a scene was there for pure fluff it was really all impactful for the plot. Overall I have to say the story was captivating. For a debut novel she did a really great job. This book is about a war between Legion and Kingdom with a subplot of discrimination between those who are transcendent (can shift into beasts) and those who are not. The FMC Wren (a rare blood witch) has more power than she thinks she can handle and spends her life suppressing her magic to keep herself safe. When she falls into the chains of Legion and is used as a pawn in their war she takes matters into her own hands making a deal with the Kingdom and a ruler she never wanted to side with. Now that Kimberly’s life is undeniably intertwined with Aaron’s, the future remains unclear. And with the pressures of college life and The Legion hovering over the brothers’ every move, she wonders if she’s bitten off more than she can chew. She wants to remain a part of Aaron’s life, but at what cost? If he didn't play his cards right, well... he needed to play his cards right. Besides, It shouldn't be too hard, most of the innkeepers around here tolerated him well enough anyway, so long as he wasn't a huge nuisance and paid his bills on time.

This doesn't mean that there aren’t still jokes and light-heartedness though! We get to see the gang get into all kinds of shenanigans (i.e., a halloween party or a shirtless carwash). I know I am using capitalized words now, but this is a review, not a published book I'm selling to people under false promises for money. But that killed me throughout this book. PDF / EPUB File Name: This_Blood_that_Binds_Us_-_SL_Cokeley.pdf, This_Blood_that_Binds_Us_-_SL_Cokeley.epub I believe the characters had some amazing development, especially when it came to a certain devastatingly handsome, Dark Art. I believe he grew the most throughout the story. I loved Wren as our FMC. The strength and power she possesses makes her such a threat and she wears that with pride. I respect her greatly for that, knowing how much she had been through. You could really feel how each character felt while only reading through 1 point of view. I found that fascinating!

I absolutely loved this book! We get to see a deeper dive into the vampire world as well as some history about the older Calem boys. This book takes us beyond the adorable, light-hearted, and tightknit bond the brothers have and shows what it means to lean on your family and friends in times of need. TLDR: If you want a cozy vampire book with a romance subplot that has: camping trips, a college setting, golden retriever boys, and a gorgeous display of a found family... then you'd love this. If you're looking for a super angsty vampire book, this is not the one for you. I love that there is no weird 100 year old vampire difference like in Twilight which is the main thing I dislike about Twilight! I love how pure their relationship is and it's not insta love, it starts as friendship and develops like it's the perfect pace! Both the main characters are so wonderful and just nice good people which I love. I enjoyed the dual POV because then I know I can trust both the characters and their intentions but that may be just my trust issues. I think the characters are written very well too, like they act the age they are described to be! I honestly loved it, it had me hooked, I loved the characters, I loved the strong friendships and family bonds! Honestly couldn't put it down.
