It's a simple, lightweight shelter that can be used on its own (with walking poles or king poles), or attached to the front of a tent. Compatible with many tents with eyelets at the foot of the door. King poles hold the door open, creating a simple and hassle free canopy for the front of your tent and providing extra shelter for you and all the family. Don't get one with a sloping front. We've had a Vango 4 man tent for about 8yrs for two adults and two children. It's got a sloping front and I HATE it. We bought an extension a couple of years ago but it hasn't really helped so we're now looking for one that's longer so has a decent amount of "living" space plus a porch area.
