About this deal

If your horse is inclined to overreach , or stands on its own hooves, then an overreach boot should be used over the MHB to protect both the horse and the MHB from damage. You must make your own arrangements to return goods to us and all postage costs are to be covered by you unless the goods are deemed faulty. If turning the horse out, ensure he is happy with the feel of the boot first. In the unlikely event the horse is nervous of the boot, walk him gently around his stable so that he can get used to it. They will soon realise it is comfortable and will not impede movement.

The Woof Wear Medical Hoof Boot is a unique close-fitting boot that is designed to keep wounds, poultices and dressings clean, and to assist in the treatment of a number of ailments to the foot such as abscesses, punctured soles or bruised soles. The asymmetric zip gives this boot a really close fit to limit bedding and other debris from getting inside. The Woof Wear Medical Boot is a unique, close fitting hoof boot that has been designed to keep wounds, poultices and dressings clean, reducing the amount of bandage needed. The stretch neoprene upper should fit snugly around the pastern area to ensure no bedding or mud etc can get inside the boot. If the upper is too tight, it is unlikely you will be able to do the zip up fully and this will be an indication that you have the incorrect size. Many customers are not measuring accurately or are buying a size too big which often results in damage to the MHB due to the boot being trodden on by the other foot.

We expect the boot to last 2-3 weeks under normal circumstances with many customers finding they last much longer. The boot is not indestructible and so is not guaranteed against breakage, due to the horse standing on the boot. Rehabilitation from injuries, abscesses, navicular disease, laminitis/founder, punctures, sole bruising and contracted heels We’d recommend these hoof boots for horses that are barefoot and just need that added bit of protection when out on the road. In terms of rehab and injury prevention they are also worthy of consideration.

Featuring a grooved sole for extra grip and a Kevlar® interior for durability it also has an asymmetric zip to give the boot a really close fit (and prevent it opening) stopping bedding and other debris from getting inside. If turning your horse out to pasture whilst wearing the Hoof Boot, ensure that the area is well drained, and for the benefit of your horse, as level as possible as this will further help to reduce discomfort. If turning the horse out, ensure he is happy with the feel of the boot first. In the unlikely event the horse is nervous of the boot, walk him gently around his stable so that he can get used to it. They will soon realise it is comfortable and will not impede movement. They should last for 2 – 3 weeks turn out or longer if stabled. The biggest danger to the longevity of the boot is if the horse were to stand on it and damage it – they are not indestructible!

The medical hoof boot from Woof Wear is a little different to some of the other hoof boots on our list. Whilst a lot of the best hoof boots for horses are dual purpose in nature – this boot from the experts at Woof Wear was provided with the sole aim of rehab and to help in the treatment of laminitis, abscesses and other hoof related disease and damage. Common sense must prevail! The boot is not breathable as its designed to be water resistant so we would suggest that the maximum length of use during any one ‘fitting’ is one week. But, it all depends on your budget. No question, the Cavallo hoof boots are at the top end of the market and if you’re just testing the water with barefoot then it might be prudent to try a cheaper alternative to start with – and upgrade as and when. The hoof boot from HKM is a great beginner boot that won’t break the bank and will give you and your horse a taste of the barefoot lifestyle. We would still recommend Cavallo if your budget allows.
