About this deal

After her husband dies, Valentina keeps her late husband’s secret because she wanted to respect the dead and also protect herself. However, now that her marriage to Dante is looming, Valentina fears that her body of lies are threatening to unravel. But her worries are unfounded because Dante is not very interested in finding much about her and he ignores her. Now she becomes confused and indignant and she is planning to make Dante fall in love with her even though his heart belongs to a dead woman.

As much as I'm dragging Dante, he wasn't half as bad. I liked him better than Luca, but it's just hard to connect to someone who is constantly described as an "cold fish" and has one face expression (on a good day maybe two). First of all, was there a point in dedicating more than half the chapters on the couples' sex life? And the rest of them were about them having kids, but I'll get to that in a minute. Not going to lie, I loved this one. It was fun to read, and it gave me hope for this book. Dante's POV was fun; I enjoyed the way he was thinking and how he took action. This one follows their first book, and I'm not sure what to say here, so, I'll put my comment which I have for Dante&Val relationship as a whole here. And make no mistake: Dante starts off as an absolute asshole. He's a sexy asshole, but an asshole nevertheless. This novel, is the sequel to Bound by Duty.I was sorry for Serafina. My heart totally broke when I heard everyone talk about the children. I was like: "Take them and run!" At age 20 he became betrothed to Aria Scuderi, as a sign of peace between the Famiglia and the Outfit. He meets Aria for the first time at their engagement when she is only 15. As promised by her family, they will not marry until she is of age.

I understand that the author is pregnant but why is everyone also preggers in this books. Everyone and their mother is pregnant or has 10 kids or is dreaming of having 10 kids. I was not really a fan of the first Dante&Val book, but I was ready to be convinced. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Samuel is now betrothed to Danilo's younger sister who was crippled by an accident, Emma. I really hope they get a book because this seems like it could be an amazing story. Luca still remains, in my eyes, the mafia H who's most obsessed, possessive and in love with his heroine. I don't think any of Cora Reilly's MC's share the connection and intense visceral sexual chemistry as the super couple, Luca and Aria. This novel also sets up a few future spin off novels, with the MC's kids as the stars of their own stories. It was also very gratifying to see Bibiana, the minor character who'd experienced severe domestic marital abuse, get her well deserved HEA with a wonderful new husband. There is nothing honourable or loving in that behaviour just control in the name of tradition and culture. This book disgusted me in that regard. It’s no secret that I dislike Aria, but I reconsidered after reading this. Aria didn’t do much but when it came to innocent, helpless women and family she always defied Luca to the point of stupidity sure, but you still have to admire that. She helped Gianna. She helped Lilly. She also helped Cara when Growl sent her to NY. (And she knew nothing about that girl - wasn’t related to her in any way) Not to mention her stupidity of going to Chicago for her brother… Ahora bien, el asunto del aborto, es muy presto a opinión, pero solo leyendo el final de la historia te das cuenta que esa niña, no es amada.

I read all of Cora’s books but I really can’t like the ones set in the Outfit. They are so archaic and disgusting. Give me Remo-Camorra madness any day because that guy is in your face and gets what he wants without playing games with the future of kids. That said, I still enjoyed it (although I probably would have liked it less had I paid for it and not gotten it via Kindle Unlimited). It was nice (although at times boring) to see old events from a new perspective. It did feel like Dante allowed himself to get steamrolled a lot...but then again, what can I say...I just prefer the crazy alpha-ness of Luca and Remo.

Publication Order of Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles Books

Val, as much as I admired her smarts and guts to break the mould in her previous book (she got a job, gave as good as she got when it came to Dante), here she basically forgot where she came from and her status got to her head. I was actually surprised that when he learned that Fabiano disappeared he did not try to look for him, especially knowing that Rocco was a poor excuse for a father who just recently got another son. Also, speaking about Rocco, I actually find it really hard to believe that no one thought it strange that he went missing for months before Dante gave him to Remo. I mean even like mention that he went into hiding or something. I would expect that the Consigliere being nowhere to be found and on top of that impossible to reach even through phone would cause quite a chaos. K Webster—This is War, Baby; bonus content is a new thrilling “training” chapter in the villainous Gabe’s POV with Baylee. Gives us a very brief outline of his childless, 12 year marriage to Carla, leading up to her tragic death from cancer.
