kiara8 @krrizis @Kittsune @kly @Kailyria20 @-kiai- @Kleep @kumquatsjingleheimer @K-ralara @Khysylia @KazeYuki @KuroBaraHime I can't tell you how many times this book has driven me insane. It's just full of plot twists designed to challenge everything you thought you knew. I have to admit; this book is just… Just… Wow.

I've said before I'm not a fan of good guys, but with this, it sparked my interest. Yan Xie in this case, is the good guy. He's all these things, but he's also a cop. A no nonsense cop. He doesn't tolerance anything out of line, and he just can't help yelling at his subordinates to do the same. But Joanne was stubborn. She sold her boat. She flew her last flight. She saved her money so that she could study clouds. She worked so hard and discovered so much that—despite what the professors said—she received a doctorate in meteorology. She was the first woman in the world to do so.

i don't remember any cheating, but indeed JT HIDES too many things. big spoiler: he's one of the mastermind, Red Queen/Queen of Hearts, working together with the big bad, King of Spade. basically they were working together, usurping the police. JT got promotions, King of Spade got early warnings so the caught people were only the low ones, never the higher-ups. even in later part of novel, almost ending/last arc, JT literally betrayed YX in front of the enemies, with guns pointing at him. imagine the angst, disappointment, pain etc As soon as the war ended, Joanne decided to seriously study the clouds she had grown to love so much. Her professors laughed. They told her to go home. They told her she was no longer needed. They told her, "No woman ever got a doctorate in meteorology. And no woman ever will." Returning home to Wood's Hole, Massachusetts, Joanne continued to study clouds, discovering more and more surprising things about them. Unafraid, she would fly under, over and through all kinds of clouds, including the scary cumulonimbi clouds filling with gusting winds and rain, eventually coming to understand the power of these massive clouds.Fast forward a bit, and Jiang Ting finally woke up from a three year coma and is recovering at his friend's karaoke business in Jianning. It's there that a young man is found dead due to overdose of a new drug, and the local criminal investigation unit is brought in to investigate. That's how the ML, Yan Xie, is introduced, as he's the deputy chief of the team heading up the investigation. This picture book biography for older readers is a fascinating and inspiring look at the life of Joanne Simpson. Faced with all kinds of negativity that might have prevented someone a little less stubborn from achieving their dreams, Joanne is a shining example of determination and persistence. In other words, stubbornness. When Joanne Simpson (1923-2010) was a girl, she sailed her boat beneath the puffy white clouds of Cape Cod. As a pilot, she flew her plane so high, its wings almost touched them. And when World War II began and Joanne moved to the University of Chicago, a professor asked her to teach Air Force officers about those very clouds and the weather-changing winds. The two of them work together to solve the case, and Yan Xie eventually realizes Jiang Ting's real identity as Gongzhou's former Captain Jiang who should be dead. Though he initially isn't sure whether to trust JT or not, it can't be denied that JT is a brilliant individual who can contribute greatly to solving the case, so the two keep working together on the next case as well. After solving the immediate details of the first case, it's clear that there's more than meets the eye, especially since there are folks from JT's past that are involved. Our main characters don't get much of a respite before the next case comes along, which involves a 200 million ransom for a boy who hasn't even been kidnapped yet. This was probably my favorite case of the two, since there were some twists here that I didn't see coming. As YX and JT collaborate on this second case, that's when YX realizes his feelings for JT and makes his move by the end of the arc. And finally JT opens up to YX a little bit about his past and how the kidnappings are indeed related to him.

This is a fascinating picture book biography of the first woman to receive a doctorate of meteorology, Joanne Simpson (and who later became the president of the American Meteorological Society). It is a celebration of ingenuity and science, but also a story of perseverance and bravery. Joanne Simpson is not a name I knew before reading this, but I'm fascinated by her work. Pero la cuestión es: ¿valió la pena las indirectas que luego me tiraba el profesor por la novela? Sí. After the first two arcs, the rest of the story focuses on the police trying to take down the King of Spades and figuring out who his moles are within the police. Along the way, we learn the full story behind JT's relationship with him. At times it was a bit hard to follow since there are so many names and references to previous incidents, but there were some thrilling twists along the way and the reader is constantly kept guessing who is helping which side. I had trouble putting the book down and had a couple of late nights because I was so drawn into the story that I couldn't stop reading. an enjoyable and mildly satisfactory read. loved how all the cases were intricately woven together. the characterization was pretty good and the pacing was just right, absolutely perfect for this novel. i liked that good balance of intense action, investigation and thrill with a tap of mystery. the twists and turns caught me off guard here nd there but tbh, the flow was great so i wasn't "surprised" by half of the things but the plot points went over really smoothly and i like good writing so i won't complain that i predicted a couple things. the aesthetic of the setting was so obvious i just cant not predict half the things. nonetheless, the story was good. it held my attention. that is enough. YX: "So, at least in this province, I should be a better mate to consider, you having a good opinion of me is logical of course. Of course, if you don't like me, then Darwin's theory of natural selection will be overturned, I think this kind of anti-science is less likely... "LaDyViL @ludagad @Luen @lalalyly @leva @Leir @Land of The Fallen @leedalys @Loriel @LavenderBlizzard @LiYao @li.king24 @Lisstr @Levanta @Lunnear @LoneSoul @lifeisbittersweet @Li hir @Lost Happiness YX: "Because I am in every way the best person to be with. Do you know how animals choose their mates in nature? Only a strong male can stand out in this cruel social competition, occupy the most resources for survival, provide the best living conditions for caring for the family and offspring. " readerz @Rilise @Regalia1896 @Raneday @Raizendeville @Rabbitanairy @rainbowturtle @Ryss @Rurella @Rucce @RoseColouredSin @Rainess09 Then he meets Jiang Ting who is hiding something. Something so big it could burn them both. He wants him, but he can't help but wonder where all of this can lead, and how long they can hide it.
