About this deal

Phil, however, showed no signs of recognizing the childhood adage. His posture remained deceptively casual, a stark contrast to the hardened, penetrating gaze fixed on Tommy. Stepping away from the tree initially offering him some semblance of concealment, Tommy felt an unexpected sensation brush against his legs. It was fleeting, like a whisper of a touch, but it was enough to startle him. The child nodded thoughtfully. “So, does that mean I can get wings if I gather enough feathers too?”

Ridley doesn’t give his Blazerbird any clear significance. You can interpret it as anything that brings human happiness, perhaps love, hope or art and culture, belief and faith—whether religious or ideological. He may resort to a magical rescue, a fairytale equivalent of deus ex machina, to give his world a new start and ensure a fairytale happy ending, but he leaves the resolution open as they step forward singing into the unknown. It involved a bit of nudging and poking around, something Tommy wasn’t exactly thrilled about, but soon enough, the goddess flashed him a radiant smile. Her eyes sparkled with satisfaction. I'm big enough for a double hug, come here Johnny." She opened her arms to accommodate John at the other side, and shivered once she felt both men and their cold clothes wrapping around her. Well, I’m not entirely sure. I haven’t been caught yet, but if I were to guess? I think I’d have to hand over my feathers.” As Tommy shivered this time, it was less from the frigid cold and more from the unsettling thought. He nestled into the corner farthest from the windows, pulling the stolen blanket even closer around him.Forget about needing ID. Tommy should have asked for a heavier coat. He was entirely unprepared for the blanket of snow that stretched as far as his eyes could see. Frankly, he wasn’t dressed appropriately for even the slightest dusting of snow. After all, he was still sporting the clothes he had died in, which was quite disturbing. His outfit, a white t-shirt with red sleeves, blue jeans, and running shoes, was far from suitable for winter weather.

She had stumbled upon Tommy during his haphazard scramble up the swaying rope ladder as he attempted to conceal himself before the patrolling guards came into view. Undeterred by his frantic actions, she had followed him up the ladder and had been peppering him with questions ever since.

What? Don’t like my garden?” A voice came from right next to him as though it had been carried in on the breeze. I couldn't bear to watch you freezing out here, so Dom and I asked if it was possible to make some chocolate for everyone…" She cooed, booping his red nose. Things begin with the choice of a husband, a birth and a child who has seen something terrible, a magical bird of which even a feather can bring her happiness and young men who go off to be heroes. All the ingredients of a traditional children’s adventure fantasy are here and, like the old stories, it is infused with a guide to understanding and coping with real life and perhaps to improving it. The young girl shook her head earnestly. “We just met yesterday. He was scared that Mom and Dad might not let him hide because I didn’t know him, so I told him my name, and he told me his. Now we’re friends! I didn’t want anyone to find him. It must be scary to play hide and seek when you have wings.” Tommy noticed another change as he looked beyond the sea of crows. The square, so recently bustling with activity, was oddly deserted. The townsfolk Tommy had been watching meander through the area were now nowhere to be seen. Even the number of guards had dwindled down to a mere handful. They stood at a distance, barely within his line of sight.

Kristin leaned over gracefully. She extended a hand to gently prod Tommy’s side as if she were trying to physically connect with the otherworldly energy she spoke of. Tommy blinked in surprise. This was decidedly not what he had meant, and it was more than a little bit creepy. For starters, who in their right mind would place chocolates in a white silk bag? The sheer absurdity of it was baffling. The pristine interior of the bag, unstained by the decadent cocoa cubes, hinted at using some sort of magic to keep it clean. Was this a display of wealth? Perhaps a casual demonstration of magical power was the point? It tells of the pangs of heartbreak, psychological trauma, famine, falsehood and the death and desolation of war. It gives us the creation of new kings and new countries, reflects the real world with an arms race and wars over religion or to distract a nation from domestic problems and unite its people, plus the conflicting histories of both sides. All these things are part of a swift-moving story that is under-laid by a need for a home and happiness and a longing for peace and beauty. As Tommy tried to decipher whether the phrase “one of mine” was something he should be concerned about, everything around him sunk into an abyss of darkness. The lively garden, with its kaleidoscope of colors and gentle rustling of leaves, abruptly vanished as if swallowed by an ethereal shadow.

How was he supposed to guess that the adorable little spider he found was about as friendly as a wet cat and venomous to boot! He’d named it Shroud, which, considering the circumstances, was pretty ironic. So when Tommy referenced that unsettling modern-day scenario and was then casually presented with a white silken pouch brimming with candy, he couldn’t help but equate it with the ominous undertones of the white van. His earlier unease morphed into a gnawing apprehension, his mind racing with alarming possibilities. So, no, wings weren’t typically seen in this world. Even though many of the individuals Tommy had spotted on the city’s outskirts exhibited many animalistic or fantastical traits, wings were noticeably not among them. And they definitely stood out. This explained how he found himself in his current situation... hidden away in a tree house next to a young girl barely over half his age, under the pretense of playing hide and seek. The facts may be harsh but the manner is fresh and hope-filled. Ridley’s springing poetic dialogue sometimes bursts into happy song (music by Nicholas Bicât). There may be suicide, murder and mass slaughter but the violence is handled stylistically. At one point a victim says that it’s too terrible to show, just tell and throughout a succession of different characters takes over telling the story.

Yes, we can prepare hot chocolate for everyone, but I'm afraid we’ll have to have it outside…" Dom sighed, the two of them were allowed to stay inside the house because Dominique was arranging things with the owners and Veronica was quite far in the pregnancy, but the boys and the filming crew had to stay outdoors, freezing in the garden, allowed only to use the loo if needed.Do you mind if I join you?” the winged man asked, his tone light and friendly. “I’ve always found corvids to be rather intelligent creatures that are quite adept at judging character. I’m intrigued to know someone who’s earned a crow’s favor.” Without waiting for Tommy’s response, the man confidently moved past him and claimed the seat at the other end of the table. It wasn’t entirely a lie. Tommy was indeed hiding. There were also people engaged in seeking, but Tommy was relatively sure that the guards on his metaphorical tail weren’t participating in any game. a journey involving a talking leopard, a greedy King, a magical bird, a tidal wave, a Sea Witch, a lost soldier, a devious dolphin, a war What? No. Do princes usually play hide and seek in your tree house?” Tommy retorted, teeth chattering slightly. The thin wooden walls of the tree-house offered scant protection against the biting cold, and the pilfered blanket he clutched to his chest provided little additional warmth.
