About this deal

Lebron said, “Look, I don’t want this to be about my acrobatics or my incredible dunks. The whole point of this book is that I had this supporting cast that only had an impact on the basketball court but on my life.” Where the book fell short for me was when I expected Windhorst to shed even more specifics that may have shed a negative light on James. It felt almost like the info was "approved" by James and company, not the whole truth in these dealings. I guess I hoped for something more honest with even more details. I could be wrong, but it just feels that way.

This book goes into detail about LeBron's life from his childhood up to early 2023. It not only discusses his journey to the NBA and his career, but also his experiences off the court. We learn about his savviness, his entrepreneurship, and activism - especially with how he has spoken out against injustice and his efforts to advocate for change (as well as his community work). We also learn about his impact on player empowerment and on the league itself. I was intrigued throughout as I read the book. While I did know some of the information covered in the book, I also learned a lot. There was an innate maturity to him. It exhibited itself, according to LeBron, very early in his life. He moved constantly. Many kids would hate that, and would protest. You also have a kid who didn’t have a father. But his attitude was: this is life and you roll with the punches. I think he had a very mature perspective very early in his life and career, and that gives him the ability to put things into a narrative perspective. How would you handle being born to a single mother in Akron bouncing from apartment to apartment and then bursting onto the sports scene as one of the best basketball players in sports history? LeBron James: If I were in desperate need of help I would turn to my wonderful wife who is constantly supportive and talks me through my problems. She has always been there for me since day one standing beside me when I am at my highs and lows. Savannah plays a massive role in my life and is all I could ask for in a wife. The book in general has a very informal tone; it gave me, the reader, alot of inspiring information of my role model, Lebron James. This book made me very motivated into making my game better, and to follow in Lebrons footsteps. When I saw this book about LeBron James, I was immediately intrigued. I did have to stop reading it a few times as I had other books to read, but when I finally finished it, I was glad I read it and learned a lot more about him than I knew previously. The Making of a Billion Dollar Athlete by Brian Windhorst is a book about Lebron James that outlines his life from the age of 16. Interestingly, the book not only talks about his success on the court, but also in the business world that he so greatly invested in. It was he and his mom throughout out his childhood trying to survive. When he started playing high school basketball, he was fortunate enough to play with some of his closest friends and had wonderful coaches helping him succeed. This is one of those great meaningful picture story books that you hope your children will take to heart and internalize its teachings. LeBron James: I feel as though I am continuously surrounded with people that are loving, caring, trustworthy, and hard working. These people are my family, teammates, coaches, staff, and friends. They are the ones that make my life better than it already is by just being who they are. I am only around positivity which is always a warm feeling to have and one that I love.

My state doesn't have any professional sports teams but I do live close to several teams. The closest NBA team to me is The Cleveland Cavaliers and obviously LeBron is the most famous Cav in history. I'm not personally a Cavs fan and LeBron isn't my favorite player but I do like and respect him as a person and businessman. LeBron has always fascinated me, so I of course was excited to read this biography.Reporter: LeBron, what would you say are the three words you'd use to describe yourself and why those three words? With eight straight trips to the NBA Finals, LeBron James has proven himself one of the greatest basketball players of all time. And like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan before him, LeBron has also become a global brand and businessman who has altered the way professional athletes think about their value, maximize their leverage, and use their voice. This is an extraordinary book. The narrative is comprehensive, intimate, and original. I’ve watched and written about the entire Patriots dynasty, and yet this epic story provides new insights and startling details that I didn’t know. I can assure you that there’s not another Patriots book like it.” Lebron James as presented in this biography is a kid from a troubled family situation who was blessed not only with exceptional athletic talent but also a series of key mentors and a mother who sacrificed an incredible amount personally for him to have the best opportunities. He then built on these opportunities every chance he got not only to meet his goals as a player but his goals as a husband as a dad to provide for his family. This book made me feel good because of his love for basketball and it was very worth my time reading this book because I love basketball. Like I say with all of the other books by Geoffreys, he did go a little too far into the career part of Lebron and He should go that deep into the childhood, but still a great book. I can make a few connections to this book, like he he wore 23 like Michael Jordan, kevin durant is a snake and left his home team like lebron did.

Benedict has a proven record of excellent research for unauthorized biographies. His take on Tiger Woods was excellent and his history of the New England Patriots was great as well. That phrase was one of the famous marketing slogans that Nike produced around the mega-star LeBron James. I have been fascinated with LeBron as a player most of his career. "LeBron, Inc" details LeBron as a businessman and the evolution of his long-term financial decisions (e.g. multiple Nike contracts, ownership equity in Beats, Blaze Pizza and his 2% stake in England's Liverpool soccer club). The book culminates by judging LeBron's signing with the Lakers as more about business (media and entertainment growth) than basketball.

Table of Contents

Most often in our business, there are writers and there are reporters, and rarely do the twain meet. In The Dynasty, Jeff Benedict shows he’s masterful at both. His reporting on the very well-worn (trust me) earth of the Patriots’ greatness is groundbreaking, starting with his illumination of the evening in the hospital in 2001 when Drew Bledsoe’s life was in peril and going all the way through to previously unknown details of the emotional play-by-play of Tom Brady’s departure from New England. The imagery and prose are just as strong. Such a great read from Benedict.” Lakers’ LeBron James became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, tallying 38 points to surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s mark in a 133-130 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Excellent book, stellar writing style and I am NOT a sports person! I only gave 4 stars because I really really would have liked a photo section...I found myself multiple times looking for a photo section ...
