Enter Tooting Bec Common, passing a lake, the Lido, and a great little café. Stop for a coffee before you cross Bedford Hill road and continue to the northern part of the common. This is one of the most beautiful hidden walks in London, with wooded areas, incredible greenery, posh park paths, great architecture, and creepy cemetery vibes. I hope you enjoy playing around with it and that it helps you discover new-to-you areas of the UK capital. The next of my secret London walks is in Richmond. This area in southwest London is worth a visit for its riverfront atmosphere, expansive green spaces, and famous filming locations. It’s one of my favorite parts of London to explore. Turn right along Conyers Road, passing the Streatham Pumping Station. This is a really cool Victorian architectural building.This walk is perfect for you if you enjoy a mix of high streets and side streets, secret passageways, and great local atmosphere. Pass the ponds and continue towards the houses. This section of the Thames path winds in and around inlets, wharfs and bridges, with cool historic sights along the way.Most London bridge walks that start at Tower Bridge will take you to touristy spots; this doesn’t. This loveliest of secret London walks is perfect if you like to be on the water and take in a variety of sights and neighborhoods as you go. It’s a good alternative to the Thames Path, and a great way to see some local London neighborhoods. Cross the bridge to the stumpery (yeah, that’s a word apparently). It’s just…a lot of tree stumps. I know.Walk across the footbridge at Limehouse Basin, around Limehouse Marina, and take the twisted paths that take you straight to the Thames! Follow the Thames Path, enjoying open views of the Thames and passing by Hampton Court Park and Golf Course. Walk through Cloudesdale Road, Elmfield Road, and reach Balham High Road. Pass Du Cane Court and continue on Balham Park Road. These are some great residential streets to take in the beautiful homes and charming streets. On the way, you’ll take in the best of Richmond, from the little lanes to the Thames Path. At the end, you’ll have options for continuing your walk in whatever way suits your tastes.
