About this deal

Highly detailed and standing 37cm (14.5 inches) tall, this amazing Lord of the Rings figurine perfectly captures the ferocity of the battle between the Balrog and Gandalf with the look of fire burning all around when it is illuminated by using the USB cable included. Gandalf can be seen leaning on his staff whilst in his other hand is the sword Glamdring, gleaming gold and white as the Balrog leaps full upon the Bridge. The Lord of the Rings, Appendix B: The Tale of Years (Chronology of the Westlands), "The Third Age" The light of the star guided the Edain to Númenor in the early Second Age. In reference to this, one of the names that the Númenóreans gave to their land was Ellena, meaning "Starward." [3] Star motifs were thereafter closely associated with Númenor, and Elendil and the heirs to his kingdoms employed stars in their heraldry.

Galadriel was originally named Artanis("noble woman"), her father-name, and Nerwen ("man-maiden"), her mother-name referring to her height and strength. Galadriel is the Sindarin translation of Telerin Quenya Alatáriel, the name given her by Celeborn, meaning "maiden crowned with a garland of bright radiance" in reference to her hair.

In the video game Tales of Symphonia "mythril" is used to customize many late game weapons, shields, and other items to equip to characters. The History of Middle-earth, Vol. V: The Lost Road and Other Writings, Part Three: " The Etymologies" Before the Dwarves abandoned Moria, mithril was worth ten times its own volume in gold. However, after the abandonment the excavation of mithril ore stopped entirely, it became priceless, as the presence of the Balrog prevented the Orcs in Moria from mining for it. The only way to obtain a mithril object at the end of the Third Age was to either use heirloom mithril weapons and armour that were produced before the fall of Moria, or to melt down these existing objects to forge new ones. However, most of the mithril produced by the Dwarves before the fall of Moria was gathered by Orcs and paid as tribute to Sauron, who was said to covet it. As a Silmaril, the Star of Eärendil contained the light of the Two Trees, and was brighter than any star in the night sky such that no other star nearby could be seen. Its first light was observed across Arda, and the people of Middle-earth were encouraged by the sight of the star, naming it Gil-Estel, the "Star of High Hope." It was recognized by Maedhros and Maglor as a Silmaril, and despite their oath to recover the gems, Maglor was gladdened that it was outside the circles of the world and thus beyond the reach of themselves and of evil forces. [2]

In the extended edition, Galadriel and Celeborn give the other members of the Fellowship various gifts as well. Besides Frodo and Sam, she gives Merry and Pippin an Elven dagger, Aragorn a curved Elvish hunting knife, Legolas a Bow of the Galadhrim and three strands of her hair to Gimli. The helmets of the Guard of the Citadel were made of mithril, heirlooms of Gondor's past wealth. After the War of the Ring Minas Tirith's Great Gate was rebuilt by the Dwarves of Aglarond out of mithril and steel. In the anime series Full Metal Panic!, mithril is a mercenary organization. In the second series, the origin of the name is explained as a reference to The Lord of the Rings. In place of a Dark Lord you will have a queen. Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the seas. Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me and despair."It is not despair, for despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt. We do not.” —Gandalf

In the Legendarium. Míriel was never Regent as her father ruled until the end of his natural life. He wasn't deposed as the series mentions. Pharazôn was, in fact Míriel's cousin as was Elendil. Furthermore, in the section of the Silmarillion relating to the Fall of Numenor the only person known to have possessed a palantír was Elendil's father, Amandil, whose family had been given seven by the Elves in the distant past. Galadriel offers to let Sam and Frodo look into her mirror, but cautions them that what they see may not be what they want. Frodo declines, but Sam accepts, only to see evil being done to the Shire. In the video game Shining in the Darkness, lumbs of mithril ore can be found and forged into some of the strongest weapons and armor available. In the game The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest, mithril is three lore items, and the rarest currency is a Mithril bar, worth a hundred silver coins, while in the game MUME ("Multi-Users in Middle-earth") several legendary items are made from mithril, including the best armour available in the game, which can be found in Moria, some of which requires a group to defeat the Balrog (Durin's Bane) to obtain the key to its treasury. While studying at Oxford, after discovering Éarendel in the lines from Crist, Tolkien developed a constructed language that later became Quenya. As of around 1915, he believed that this language needed an internal history, and was spoken by Elves whom his invented character Eärendil meets in his journeys. The next step in his creation of the underlying mythology was the Lay of Eärendil, a work composed of several poems describing the mariner Eärendil and his voyages, and how his ship is turned into a star. The mysterious land of Valinor and its Two Trees of gold and silver were first described in this cycle. She had no role in the major wars of the First Age, believing that defeating Morgoth was beyond the power of the Eldar; when Morgoth was defeated by the coming of the Valar out of the West she, having played no part in the earlier Kinslaying, was offered safe return to Valinor. However, she chose not to leave Middle-earth, and was the only leader of the Ñoldor exiles to remain after the First Age. [8] Second Age Arwen was a very distant relative of her husband Aragorn. Aragorn's ancestor, Elros Tar-Minyatur, the first King of Númenor, was her father Elrond's brother, who chose to live as a man rather than one of the Eldar. This means that Aragorn also has very distant Elvish ancestry. Elros died in SA 442, some 3240 years before Arwen was born. Gandalf chastises the elves during the meeting of the Fellowship, who contemplate over whether destroying the One Ring is folly. That despair is the only thing people who assume results without trying can see.

Mithril, or similarly spelled names, has been used in other fictional contexts as a strong and semi-magical metal, due to the fact that the Tolkien Estate did not trademark the term. Examples include: Sam knows the value of hard work. Procrastination can be a hard thing to overcome, but without getting started, you’ll never finish anything.

In the Hervarar saga, which was a cycle dealing with the magic sword Tyrfing (and from which Tolkien borrowed, for instance, the names Dwalin and Durin), the hero Orvar-Odd wore a silken mailcoat which nothing could pierce ( Oddr svarar: "ek vil berjask við Angantýr, hann mun gefa stór högg með Tyrfingi, en ek trúi betr skyrtu minni, enn brynju þinni, til hlífðar"). Arwen was voiced by Sonia Fraser in The Lord of the Rings (1981 radio series) and by Kath Soucie in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (video game). In the fan film The Hunt for Gollum, Arwen is played by Rita Ramnani. In The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, Arwen is a playable hero through a DLC.
