About this deal

If you're wondering whether there's a replacement for the A90K on the way, there isn't at this stage. While 2022's A80K and A95K models have been replaced (with the A80L and A95L respectively), the 42-inch and 48-inch A90K models are remaining in Sony's TV lineup for an extra year. If you are familiar with the brand, you know that you’re getting a pretty decent deal, price-wise, as both Hisense and Sharp TVs are reasonably priced.

If you are a gamer, it's also worth considering the next-gen gaming features of your prospective new TV. Xbox Series X and PS5 gamers can gain a competitive advantage on certain games if their TV supports 4K 120Hz, while VRR support can result in a smoother gameplay experience. ALLM, meanwhile, simply ensures that you automatically get the best visual experience from both games and movies / TV shows. If you are a more casual gamer or not a gamer at all, you can pretty much disregard these features, and it's likely that doing so will save you a lot of cash.

Gaming performance was another plus point for the Omni QLED. It did a great job of handling graphically intense moments, with smooth motion processing and minimal delay thanks to its low 10ms input lag time. The picture quality delivered was crisp as well, thanks to Dolby Vision gaming support. However, it sadly doesn't have 4K 120Hz support, but this is not something you get in TVs at this price range anyway. If you’re torn between which high-performance OLED TV to buy and are in search of a unique selling point to help you make up your mind, Ambilight could well be it. Said picture performance features the sort of stunning contrast that only OLED can deliver, and the C3 is much punchier than rivals such as the Sony A90K. Colours are vibrant but natural, and there's plenty of subtlety to shading. The increased pixel density of having a 4K resolution crammed into a 42-inch display makes for superb sharpness and solidity, too. The A95K is powered by Sony’s advanced Cognitive XR processor and its picture processing is some of the best around. Compression artefacts and noise are reduced to an incredible degree, and upscaling of non-4K content is remarkably effective. Motion handling is equally impressive and these qualities all add up to what is a nuanced and captivating watch regardless of what content you’re consuming. Top-notch picture performance is complemented by excellent audio courtesy of Sony’s Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology, which transforms the TV’s panel into a speaker.

Key specs – Screen sizes: 55in (tested), 65in and 77in; Display type: OLED; Resolution: 4K/UHD (3,840 x 2,160); HDR formats: HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision; HDMI inputs: 2 x HDMI 2.1, 2 x HDMI 2.0; Operating system: My Home Screen 7.0 But before you send the TV to a repairman or attempt some DIY fixes, there is some troubleshooting that you can do. This question is pretty much moot now, as the vast majority of TVs are now 4K. It's actually rather hard to find Full HD (1080p) models, even at relatively small sizes. Although most manufacturers and buyers focus on larger TVs, there's still a lot of interest in smaller models for people looking for the best 40-inch smartTV. There aren't as many options in this size as in the larger ones, but some premium models and cheaper TVs are still available. It's easier to look for the best42 or best 43-inch 4kTVs than for the best40-inch TVs, as the formersaremuch more common, so you'll have more choice if you can fit a 42 or 43-inch model in your entertainment center. There are also some 42-inch OLEDs coming out, which will further expand the selection in that size category. You may also like to explore our article that talks about Are Sharp TVs Reliable? General Pros and Cons of Sharp TVs Sharp TVs are affordable yet provide good screen quality

In the case of cable, satellite, or free TV, you can experience pixelation due to weak signals being fed to your TV from the network. Unfortunately, even changing settings won’t do much to fix the quality of the signal. Samsung's image processing makes it look refined and impressive cinematic, and the eight speakers built into it means it'll sound far better than the competition here, and you may not need to add a soundbar for clear audio. All of this does mean its the most expensive option here, though. There are a few factors that can affect internet connectivity, so how do you identify what’s preventing your TV from connecting to the Internet? The usual Wi-Fi router that comes with a home subscription has a limit on the number of devices that can connect to it. The best upper mid-range 43-inch TV we've tested is the Samsung QN43QN90CAFXZA. It's an impressive TV overall, andthesmaller 43-inchsize offers a few extra features for PC gamers, including a higher 144Hz refresh rate on all four of its HDMI 2.1 bandwidth ports. This allows for smoother motion handling than comparable 120Hz displays. It delivers an impressive gaming experience but has a noticeably slower response time than the LG C3 OLED, so you'll see more blur and ghosting around fast-moving objects if you play fast-paced games.

2. My Sharp TV is Flickering

Also expect to find lots of region-specific apps such as BBC iPlayer in the UK, HBO Max in the US and Stan in Australia. If you attempt to change the resolution manually for the best resolution, you will still get pixelation or stuttering on the video if your connection is poor.

Key specs – Screen sizes: 48in, 55in (tested), 65in and 77in; Display type: OLED ex; Resolution: 4K/UHD (3,840 x 2,160); HDR formats: HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision IQ; HDMI inputs: 2 x HDMI 2.1, 2 x HDMI 2.0; Operating system: Android TV 11 LG’s OLED evo panel takes an already ‘gold standard’ in TV technology and makes it better. OLED uses self-illuminating pixels for superb contrast and picture realism. Evo technology enhances this with an additional luminous element that makes the picture brighter and the colour more vivid. Put simply, for a combination of natural, lifelike images and vivid detail OLED evo is the one to beat. It's now common to find 4K on 40, 42 and 43-inch sets, even at the budget end, and support for HDR formats (including HDR10+ and even Dolby Vision in some cases) is usually included, too. Peak brightness and colour depth are often a bit limited with cheaper models, though, so it's generally best not to expect a dazzling HDR performance unless you're prepared to spend quite a lot of money. If you’re looking for an app that has almost everything, then Roku is a great option. Disadvantages of Sharp TVsThe Philips 807 has plenty of attractive features, but its big selling point is its use of four-sided Ambilight technology. LEDs built into the rear of the OLED panel illuminate the wall behind the TV, with different modes achieving different effects. You can have the light match the colours being produced on the screen to increase your immersion in whatever you’re watching or set the Ambilight to neutral white to improve the perceived contrast and make for a more comfortable late-night viewing experience. Currently, three HDMI connections is standard on budget and mid-range TVs, while four is the norm for premium models. But if there is still no sound, try rebooting your TV, by unplugging and turning it on again after two minutes. You can do a reset before doing any of the troubleshooting above. But ideally, it should be done as one of the last things. Other useful connections include optical and stereo outputs, which can be used in lieu of HDMI ARC to connect legacy audio equipment. Headphone outputs are still fairly common, too, though Bluetooth is also supported by most TVs now and some models now feature the latter but not the former.
