I think what I enjoy most of all about this series is that Bruno, the main character, is a genuinely nice and good person- as opposed to the overused trope of the main detective/police character being an angry/bitter/drunk etc cop. He's someone I'd want to spend time with, which makes reading the books all the more enjoyable. I learnt quite a lot from this story too. In particular, Walker touches the history of the Cold War, the Rosenholz Dossier, the master list of all Stasi Intelligence agents, espionage and politics.
