The length it gave my lashes, it was like magic! Where did they come from? I genuinely believe the effect this mascara gives is like an LVL lash lift! Using the wand, I raked the mascara through my lashes, making sure I started right at my lash line. I like to apply one coat of mascara to each eye, let it set a little bit, and then go in with a second layer. One coat later and I was pretty impressed. If I was going out of the house I would definitely go in with another coat or two, as the mascara definitely focuses on length over volume (thanks to the magnetic fibres which cling to the ends of your lashes as you pull the wand away).By the evening, there was a slight transfer on my eyelids, which I usually expect as my skin can be quite oily. However, the staying power was proved by the removal process, requiring a little more elbow grease and good faith to remove all traces. What it is: An extreme lengthening mascara that uses a magnetically charged brush, which pulls the magnetic, mineral-enriched formula up and out beyond the tips of your lashes. The formula is designed to be water-resistant, lightweight, buildable, and claims to give 36 hours of wear without smudging or flaking.

Lashes look long and lifted; Benefit did an instrumental test on 21 women and the results were that lashes looked 40% longer! The proof is in the picture too, scroll to the team review section for my own before and after to see the effect for yourself.

The look: The new magnet version definitely added extra length and gave a lot more lift than the OG They’re Real! version, while the original formula gives more wispy, fluttery lashes. If you have sparse lashes and want lots of volume, this might not become your go-to mascara as it doesn’t add crazy volume (just plenty of length!). However, you can always try layering this with a volumizing formula to build up the intensity.

The brushes: The OG They’re Real! brush had an hourglass shape with long plastic bristles and a custom-domed tip that targets tiny lashes. In contrast, the new They’re Real! Magnet brush is straight and has much shorter plastic bristles that easily grab lashes and allow you to get right to the root. Wiggle the brush from the root of your lashes to the tips. Allow for a few seconds of drying time, and apply another coat if desired. About My Lashes: Average length but disappear on camera Many people find the original they’re Real! Mascara hard to remove. However, it’s all about the formula you use to take it off. Benefit has a dedicated they’re Real! Remover if you’d like to stay within the range or I’d recommend a bi-phase eye makeup remover. A bi-phase formula combines two phases of oil and water mixed, which lift away stubborn, long-wear makeup without pulling or tugging. One of my favourites is La Roche-Posay Respectissime.

Perhaps you can’t live without your eyelash curler, or you have monthly LVL treatments; this is the mascara you’ve been waiting for.lala1211 Excited at first but then....raccoon eyes :( The product really made my lashes pop and look much more dramatic and full but then literally after about 30 minutes of just getting dressed, I noticed it started to flake and add it some major raccoon eyes underneath and I was so disappointed. The brush is sharp but I feel like that was super helpful to get the application right. But just to have that small bit of time of great lashes wasn't worth it to me :( The force of the magnet is subtle, so you can't feel it working — but you can see the results immediately. So not only do my lashes look longer and fuller than normal, I can get them that way in a fraction of the time.

Magnets are usually heavy, but this magnet mascara is light as air. When applied, you can barely feel the lightweight formula, which is why lashes stay lifted all day long. When I was finished applying the mascara and inspected my lashes in the mirror, I was every bit impressed. This mascara helped me achieve my goal of having lashes that pop on camera, so it's safe to say it has won me over. The lengthening effects were clearly visible, making it appear as though I glued on a pair of fluttery faux lashes. Though there were a few small clumps on my lashes post-application, that's not a dealbreaker for me. The dynamic formula allows it to provide stunning definition, volume, and length that lasted all day. And if you're wondering, it didn't flake or smudge at all. And I haven't even mentioned the other innovative thing about this mascara: the "wiper." Do you ever pull a mascara brush from its tube and think, "Holy shit, that's way too much," so you've got to wipe half of it off? For They're Real! Magnet Mascara, Benefit made the opening of its tube slightly smaller than necessary so that it scrapes away all the excess product from the brush as it's being pulled out. Our verdict: We’re pretty obsessed with the new formula! It’s very easy and fast to work with and we loved the lift and length it gave. Even though it does smudge sometimes, it hasn’t stopped us from using it, and we love it as an everyday mascara. Will we be buying the OG They’re Real! Mascara again? We feel kinda bad, but we love the new version so much more, simply for the fact it builds up so fast and adds way more lift and length. However, if you do prefer a more natural-looking, fluffy lash, then you may prefer the original. We were immediately impressed with the formula and how effortlessly it coated our lashes. Even after layering it through our lashes just a few times, we had impressive length. When we baked under our eyes, we didn’t see any smudging along the lower lash line until after about six hours, but when we didn’t set our makeup with powder, we did see more smudging after just a few hours. If you tend not to have oily skin, then you might not have any smudging at all.
