I’ve already reviewed its little brother, the Wharfedale diamond 9.0, which has been on the market for a while as well. If you’re looking for low budget speakers, which are performing good in terms of basic music listening, the Wharfedale Diamond 9.0 speakers are a great choice for you.As I said, those speakers are intended for small rooms. When it comes to bigger rooms, this is the point where a great subwoofer will do its job if you want the sound to resonate even more. There’s scale here with a degree of authority and substance that no rival we’ve heard can better. Stereo imaging is good too, nicely projected and layered.The good news continues where integration is concerned, with everything tying together into a seamless whole. The Wharfedale 9.0 are small stereo speaker to replace mini/micro system speakers or satellite speaker to use with subwoofer in home cinema systems. The Diamond 9.0 is still a decent speaker, and certainly a full range speaker, though the depth of the bass is limited; limited but acceptable. Many people, especially those with casual listening requirements are overjoyed with the small compact Diamond 9.0. One trade-off of not having a dedicated self-powered sub is that the system needs a little more power from the amplifier, say around 100 W/channel (ignore the maker's fi gures here), but this is a ballpark fi gure for even relatively inexpensive multichannel amplifi ers these days. Otherwise you'll fi nd the system easy to confi gure. I noted that the speakers have somewhat broader dispersion that usual, and this means a much larger sweet spot where several listeners will hear good sound, not just in a single listening sweet spot. A refined, delicate, and detailed presentation of high-frequency articulation, with no trace of either hardness or softness and with a perfect replication of transients. The sound quality, construction and design of the 9.1 speakers are for sure worth it compared to its actual price.The Paradigm Atom had a warm, rich midrange with less detail and less extended highs. Its warm midbass was not as deep, clean, or as extended as the Wharfedale's. I also noticed that the otherwise balanced Paradigm tended to get a bit tense in the upper midrange during high-level passages, unlike the Wharfedale. Diamond 9.1 proves good audio can still be attainable to shoppers on a budget. Found here is a bookshelf speaker. Even if you're tight for cash, impressive sound for a Hi-Fi isn't unattainable. Technophobes Need Not Worry In terms of the most fundamental types of music, videos, and movies, this is where the speakers continue to surprise us in relation to their true cost. Even better, you can connect it to an amplifier to slightly boost the treble. The Wharfedale Diamond 9.0 sound incredibly clear and clean when you’ve done that.

How do they compare with the older 121s? The character is similar but the newer speakers are a little better in most respects. Verdict Well the basic difference are obvious. The Diamond 9.1 is physically larger and has a physically larger bass driver. Larger cabinet means more bass, as does the larger bass driver, but it also means it moves more air. Looking at the drivers, we have the 130mm Kevlar bass/midrange unit and 25mm textile tweeter, which is another reason why the 9.1 is able to produce an enthralling balanced sound.

It’s hard to believe the original Wharfedale Diamond spent its thirtieth birthday. All these decades ago, it was the Diamond speaker that proved, for the first time, that a small, low-budget speaker could get excellent sound. Since then there have been dozens of imitators, but diamonds remain one of the best available.
