The bark is astringent, sweet, sour, cooling, aphrodisiac, cardiac tonic, urinary astringent, expectorant, alexiteric. The patient should be referred to a Secondary Care Specialist for advice on optimal management and investigation of any underlying cause. Use a clean spoon or spatula to remove emollients from a pot or tub. This reduces the risk of infections from contaminated pots. Inflamed skin can become red on lighter skin, and darker brown, purple or grey on darker skin. This can also be more difficult to see on darker skin.
