About this deal

The three circular indicators on top are (from left to right) - amount of solar energy watch has (high, med, low), middle circle has the different timers, stopwatches, alarm settings, and the right circle is seconds by 2's (2 seconds, 4, seconds, 6 seconds, and so on to 10). All of these settings inside the circle itself will light up if they are "on," which is awesome as you can easily see if any alarms are on and how much solar energy your watch has. So right now as I look at my watch, the "high" setting is lit up so I know that my watch has a "high" charge of solar energy. I have one (of 5 possible) alarms on, so one of my alarm settings is lit up as well. At work, I put the 'mute' setting on, so that will light up as well if it is on. If any are off, they do not light up. At the end though, I can’t get over the impracticality of these design hindrances to want to own it over my other far more practical options like the GD350. One of the Rangeman’s unique features: one-touch instant start for the stopwatch. If you’re in the normal Time Mode, a single press of the lower right button will instantly switch modes and start the stopwatch. You can also get to Stopwatch Mode by cycling the lower left mode button.

In their favor, the DW5600 and DW6900 have “flash alerts” with a flashing display and buzzer for the alarm and hourly time signals. Also, the countdown timer is settable in 1-second, 1-minute, and 1-hour increments, rather than just 1-minute and 1-hour increments for the GW models. The timer also has an auto-repeat function. The Casio GW-6900-1 boasts an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month, ensuring that it keeps accurate time. Its tough construction and reliable mechanism make it a durable and long-lasting timepiece. The DW5600 and DW6900 do not have world time, so there are no differences between the two models in that area. Other limitations are only one alarm, no option to turn the button operation sound off, and no adjustable afterglow duration on either model. (It should be noted that the alarm is a “multi-function alarm” and not just a “daily alarm,” which offers a daily, date, 1-month, or monthly alarm.) The dimensions and weight are slightly different from their GW counterparts at 48.9 x 42.8 x 13.4 mm and 53 grams for the DW5600 and 53.2 x 50 x 16.3 mm and 67 grams for the DW6900, though not enough to be very noticeable. The 6900’s easily recognized by its round shape flattened at the bottom, the “three eyes” (a.k.a., “triple graph”) and the light activation button located front and center on the bottom of the face. The Casio GW-6900-1 is a watch with a Tough Solar mechanism, meaning it is powered by solar energy. The watch features an LCD dial, providing a clear and easy-to-read display. It is designed to be waterproof and can withstand a water-resistant pressure of up to 20 ATM, equivalent to a water-resistant depth of 200 meters. The solar and MB6 of this GW6900 make a more compelling argument for value but then you lose the absolute cheapness in price of the DW6900.

The GWM5610-1 is more compact and slimmer (46.7 x 43.2 x 12.7 millimeters versus 53.2 x 50 x 17.7). It is better suited to those with smaller wrists and those wearing tight-fitting long sleeves. It is also a little lighter (51.7 grams versus 63). You can put it on your wrist and forget it’s there. Features: Multi-Band 6 auto time adjustment, world time (31 time zones, 48 cities + UTC, DST on/off, home/world city time swap), 1/100-second stopwatch (60 minutes max, with split), countdown timer (100 minutes, settable in seconds), 5 daily alarms (with countdown), hourly time signal, full auto LED light with afterglow, full auto-calendar, button tone on/off, 12/24-hour format, hand shift The Triple Sensor works well as a general reference. The barometer is the most useful of the functions; it includes a barometric pressure trend graph. The trend graph can be toggled on to replace the weekday at the top of the LCD (displaying constantly in the Time Mode). Appearance/size: I personally think the size and look of the watch is perfect, no too small and not too big. I like how the time size is big, so is the day. This makes it super easy when I need the date for a document or the time if someone asks. I get A LOT of compliments on it, especially since I never wore a watch, so now when friends or coworkers see it on my wrist, they immediately say, "nice watch! when did you get that?" The look is rugged, which goes along well with my wardrobe (outdoorsman), yet also goes well with nice outfits. I don't think you could pull off wearing this watch with a suit, as you would want more of a stainless steel "nice" watch for that, but hey, this watch does look THAT good that I would try wearing it with a suit :D

Model Comparison

The Rangeman buttons are large, with a cross-cut texture. They’re easy to find and press, even with gloves. That’s because the Rangeman 9400 is a BIG watch (55.2 x 53.5 x 18.2-mm). It’s also a BOLD watch.

Features: World time (31 time zones, 48 cities + UTC, DST on/off), stopwatch (23:59’59 max, 1/100-second first 60 minutes, 1-second after 60 minutes, elapsed time, split time, 1st-2nd place times), countdown timer (24 hours, settable in seconds, minutes, and hours), 5 daily alarms, hourly time signal, dual LED light with 1.5 or 3-second afterglow, full auto-calendar, button tone on/off, 12/24-hour format, hand shift The Triple Sensor is not a professional-level instrument. If your life depends on a good compass, get a good compass. Same for the altimeter. Due to body heat, the thermometer is only accurate off your wrist. CONS: No third analog hand for seconds (but does have a seconds display on LCD), countdown timer limited to 100 minutes The G9000-1V Mudman has an extra-protective case featuring mud and dust resistance. It’s a good choice if your deployment takes you to an extreme environment like the desert or jungle. The G9000 also has specialized features such as two stopwatches and five multi-function alarms that are more versatile than the usual daily alarm. The multi-function alarm can be set as a daily alarm, a date alarm for a time on a specific date, a 1-month alarm that sounds everyday on the month set, and a monthly alarm that sounds on a specific day every month. Although this particular model is more colorful with its red buttons than other G9000 models that are currently available, we suggest the G9000-1V for its easy-to-read non-inverted LCD display.Although the GW6900 display is more capable in some ways, some people may prefer the look and the straightforward layout of the GWM5610 display. The main digits on the GWM5610 are larger than the GW6900, making it easier to read. I really get the love behind this model now after trying it out for a few days, but sadly cannot say I can raise this up to one of my favorites. This is the newer generation of the famous Frogman watch with its lopsided case, but with an all-analog display. It includes the latest tech and durability specs, as well as a unique feature that allows you to hide the hour hand under the minute hand to avoid confusion and allow you to only focus on the minutes, which are most important when diving.

The GW6900 has a front light button that is easier to access and press than the side light button on the GWM5610. Many people also find that the side buttons on the GW6900 are easier to press than the buttons of the GWM5610.Features: World time (29 time zones, 48 cities + UTC, DST on/off, home/world time city swapping), 1/1000-second stopwatch (23:59’59 max, elapsed time, lap time, split time, speed indicator), countdown timer (24 hours, settable in minutes and hours, auto-repeat), 5 daily alarms (with 1 snooze), hourly time signal, auto LED light with 1.5 or 3-second afterglow, full auto-calendar, 12/24-hour format For the record, I am by no standards a "watch guy," and have never been. But recently, I have wanted a watch but wanted a watch that would be rugged yet also show the day, day/month, and time, along with a few timers and such, and this watch has ALL OF THAT and more! Features: World time (31 time zones, 48 cities + UTC, DST on/off, home/world time city swapping), 1/100-second stopwatch (23:59’59 max, elapsed time, split time, 1st-2nd place times, target time alarm, direct timing start button), countdown timer (60 minutes, settable in minutes), 5 daily alarms (with 1 snooze), hourly time signal, LED light with 1.5 or 3-second afterglow, full auto-calendar, button tone on/off, 12/24-hour format, hand shift The article contains other information, including anecdotes about current and former military members, as well some interesting reader comments. The GW6900-1 has 31 time zones for world time, while the GWM5610-1 has 29, and both have 48 cities. The additional time zones on the GW6900 are UTC+5.75 for Kathmandu (KTM) in Nepal and UTC-2 for Fernando de Noronha (FEN) in Brazil, and the cities of Miami and Toronto are omitted (as they are the same time zone as New York).
