About this deal

If we are discussing merely a business willfully misrepresenting its offering, this would be a different discussion. I do not believe I have done that in this article. I have not been coy about bringing up those issues either in other articles. I can say I have used Gyeon CanCoat on clients’ vehicles. I have never charged the same rate for this protection as I would for the 18 month to 2 year offerings or other offerings at that time. There is definitely a very wide gap in the price for my 3 year and 5 year warrentied ceramic coating offerings. I recently wrote my review on the new Gyeon Pure Evo coating which can be found here https://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=429437 As a first foray into ceramic coatings, I thought I would try applying Gyeon Can Coat to my 6 year old car. I want to start by saying Gyeon recently released its Evo line, which includes a seemingly improved formulation of CanCoat. But for the sake of this discussion I will only mention the original formula.

Gyeon Q2 Can Coat EVO is an increibly easy to use spray coating, simply spray onto the attached microfibre and wipe until you achieve full gloss. Now in its EVO form to provide you with a more durable yet easy to apply SiO2 based coating. We are the UK distributors for GYEON Quartz, who are a formulator and manufacturer of advanced, quartz based protection and maintenance products. Shake the Gyeon CanCoat well, take a good quality microfibre cloth and spray the Can Coat into the cloth. Wipe over a section (half a panel) gently ensuring you pass over all the area at least twice to provide even coverage. Take a second good-quality microfibre cloth and wipe off completely. Repeat for all other sections on your car until gleaming. In situations where it's not practical or possible to leave the car for 24 hours before applying the coating (which is certainly the case when working outside), then a Prep wipe down becomes strictly necessary (otherwise the coating won't bond properly to still curing SiO2 components). And, as you guessed, this does reduce the benefits of using Primer in the first place (personally I would only ever choose to use Primer when working indoors). Thus, in your case it might be better to use Polish instead, and simply go Polish > Prep > CanCoat (assuming the paint needs minor refinement before the coating is applied - if not then just go with Prep > CanCoat).Although paint correction on a fully decontaminated surface is the main course in approving the aesthetics of your paint, I have noticed an amplification in the look of the paint after using CanCoat. Gyeon CanCoat has the ‘glass like gloss’ look a coating provides as seen below with this Audi RS5. For example Cancoat is the most expensive and labor intensive way to coat a car over a set time period of 3 to 5 yrs compared to other using your term, traditional coatings, which for most long lasting durability being one of the primary reasons to coat a car.

Gyeon claims that Can Coat should be fully cured within 24 hours and it is best to avoid strong chemicals during the first week after application. Can Coat may be topped with Gyeon Cure if you wish. I recommend removing the sprayer from the bottle and cleaning it out with water after each use so you can re-use it. Store the bottle in a cool area with the cap secured in between uses.

Application

One thing that is interesting is that CanCoat does indeed harden but it hardens into a white powdered silica which is cool. It can be seen in the sprayer as well. I know many have had issues with the sprayers fail even after rinsing but for me I am still on the original sprayer. I rinse it with hot water and pump hot water through it.

Simply spray onto a microfiber towel and wipe until you achieve full gloss. That is how easy it is to apply Q² CanCoat EVO! Now in its EVO form to provide you with a more durable yet easy to apply SiO2 based coating. CanCoat applied in not the most ideal scenarios can serve as an exceptionally strong sealant. But applied properly like a coating it can act like a hybrid coating (9 months chemical resistance) or in two layers pass as an actual coating. Waxes, sealants, coatings… oh my! The paint protection industry is evolving every single day. New technology is pushing out new products faster and faster, and consumers now have so many options it can be a bit overwhelming. Today we are going to talk about one of those options, Gyeon CanCoat. Was I expecting too much from the claims of self-cleaning/beading and this is normal for ceramic coatings or did I do something wrong? However, after a drive in the wet a couple of days later, the rear of the car was just as dirty as ever and although there was beading, a lot of those beads later dried to leave horrible, dirty, water spots. Leaving the car out in the rain a few days later and the beads were still there but again they later dried to dirty water spots.
