About this deal

I designed a cheerful and inspirational colour scheme to match the brand characteristics and a main logo (playing with the idea of a happy face). To support the main logo, there are also a series of submarks / secondary logos that can be used to add character to the brand.

The original line-up was Shaun Ryder (vocals), his brother Paul Ryder (bass), Mark Day (guitar), Paul Davis (keyboard), and Gary Whelan (drums). Ryder, whose brother Shaun fronted the group, was a founder member since their formation in 1980 and had rejoined for the group’s most recent reunion in 2012. VV Brown comments: "The submissions this year were all so different and eclectic. It was difficult to decide and I enjoyed going through them all. At times easy on the ear, at times challenging, but in all very exciting." Elsewhere, in a prescient review in Vox magazine, the music writer Simon Reynolds described the band’s extraordinarily difficult fourth LP as being “as good as Happy Mondays get, but perhaps not good enough to matter. To recoup [its] outlay, [the] LP has to be laden with potential hit singles or to strike some kind of chord with a sizeable faction of the populace. Yes Please!, unless I'm very much mistaken, will fail on both counts.” The band announced in September 2012 that they were writing their first album with the original lineup in more than 20 years. Happy Mondays performed before another re-formed act, Rage Against the Machine, at the 2007 Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California. They were introduced by Tony Wilson. Bez missed the show because he could not get into the US due to "passport issues". [23] The band then toured throughout the summer of 2007 including a trip to the Numusic Festival in Norway. They played Splendour in the Grass in Australia in July 2009, and the UK V Festival in August 2009. Happy Mondays started in 2021 as a inspirational brand wanting to encourage people to find joy in every day life, to help with anxiety and to help people who are feeling a bit unsure about the future as we emerge from the pandemic. During their other “baggy” big-hitter, Sit Down, Booth stopped singing to conduct his public through its chorus about embracing human difference, a capella. He soon dedicated it to their late collaborator, Sinéad O’Connor, emotionally eulogizing “her courage to try to break the chain of abuse in the Catholic Church”.

When Booth led off into 1999 B-side All Good Boys, it might’ve squandered the audience’s attention, had its meditation on father-son nurturing not been so poleaxingly poignant, nor duly been followed by Madchester-era megahit Come Home, the whole field erupting in joy at its doodling synth line and shuffling beat. I met my fiance, Firouzeh Razavi, nearly nine years ago. It was her 30th birthday and she was having a drink with her friends, while I was out with my mate. We walked into this bar, our eyes met across the table, and that was it. I’m not normally romantic, but I tried to make it special when I proposed to her. I set up a posh picnic basket and got her family and my family to wait on the top of this mountain near where we live. Me and Firouzeh walked up the mountain and she noticed a big letter D that I’d put out in tribute to her younger brother who’d died. Then she saw her dad. And her sisters and everyone else, and I proposed. It was great. And it’s easier if everyone is there so you don’t have to tell them all separately afterwards.

In January it was announced that music legend and Dancing On Ice star Bez has announced his return to Kirkcaldy for a special show. One of my favourite parts of the project was getting to play around with lots of different illustration and type styles, and discovering lots of new features in Adobe CC along the way. To help set the pace for the project, I joined in with the Design of Graphic Elements to Boost Your Brand course by Heavy / Domestika, which was really helpful in terms of refining my own branding process and making sure that I’ve got all of the correct processes in place to ensure a great outcome, whatever the project. First inspired by Motown artists, Ryder was then drawn to the Chicago house music of the 1980s, saying that his bass lines were “me trying to replicate that style but using a real instrument rather than a computer”.

If it was up to Our Kid, he’d have had us playing last Friday. He always just carried on, and that’s what we do in our family,” he said. “It’s weird. I’ve just been looking after my mam, so I’ve not really been thinking about it. It didn’t really hit me until I went on stage in Cardiff last night and he wasn’t there. Reed.co.uk is dancing its way into 2023. After months of careful planning, the secret is finally out… Let us introduce to you our brand new ‘Love Mondays’ campaign. There’s nothing harder than teenage girls,” he said. “Lads are a doddle, lads are fine but teenage girls? It’s so dramatic and there’s screaming and insane drama all the time. I mean, I love them of course, but it’s a nightmare. We’re grandparents’ age now, me and Jo. My other kids are a bit older but it’s harder now with younger ones, it’s worse because of the internet and the communicating teenagers do now. But teenagers are always going to be difficult. The brilliantly bold creative will be making its way across the UK, through a range of different channels – including both online and offline advertising. You’ll get a chance to catch a glimpse of our new ads everywhere (we’re not kidding). Here’s a breakdown of where you’ll find them: Released on August 31, the lead-off single from Yes Please!, Stinkin’ Thinkin’, debuted on the UK chart at number 39. Barely a month later, its parent LP stalled at number 14. The only international chart troubled by its presence was Australia, at number 99. According to Shaun Ryder, “it was not a good album. There were no catchy grooves… it had absolutely no character. Yes Please! wasn’t the Mondays. It could have been anyone.” The band signed to Creation Management in 2015. They have announced an international tour to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches. The Ryder brothers formed what would eventually become the Happy Mondays in 1980 and signed with Factory Records in 1985, soon becoming a mainstay and standout act at label head Tony Wilson’s legendary “Madchester” epicenter and venue, the Hacienda.
