Port Eynon is also the starting point for one of the best walks in Wales, the Port Eynon to Rhossili walk. You start at the car park in Oxwich and head along the coast through Oxwich Wood before continuing to Oxwich point where there are splendid coastal views. On the way you will pass the fascinating St Illtud's Church. Founded in the 6th century the church has an interesting stone font and tranquil grounds.
The last of our beaches on Gower is remote Whiteford (pronounced Witford) Sands, also sometimes referred to as Whiteford Burrows. It’s a dune and pine plantation stretching to the north-western tip of Gower. This circular walk explores the area surrounding Oxwich Bay on the Gower Peninsula. There are several of Gower’s beaches that have a dog ban imposed from May 1st to September 30th each year. The beaches affected are as follows:
Broughton Bay beach is one of the most secluded west Wales beaches. The north-west Gower beaches are much more isolated and exposed to wind than their neighbours to the south. The Buchanan County portion of Gower is part of the St. Joseph, MO– KS Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Clinton County portion is part of the Kansas City, MO–KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Gower Peninsula, also known as Penrhyn Gŵyr, showcases breathtaking natural beauty and remains untouched by modern development. Spanning just sixteen miles by seven miles wide, this small region boasts numerous historical landmarks. It holds the distinction of being one of the earliest locations designated as 'An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' under the 1949 Act. In summary, the changes related to the following areas: Tor Bay is a large sandy beach that is shaped like a horseshoe. It's not easy to access but you can reach it from Penmaen where there is some parking, or you can walk the length of Oxwich Bay to get to it. Four beaches have Blue Flag beach and Seaside (2006) awards for their high standards: Bracelet Bay, Caswell Bay, Langland Bay and Port Eynon Bay.
