Before we actually delve into the review, the letter X carries significance to Smok because it represents ten years manufacturing within the vaping industry. The OG SMOK Nord first hit the market in and around 2018, if memory serves me correct. It was immensely popular when it first landed, thanks to its compact design, excellent MTL draw, and brilliant all round performance. The SMOK Nord X would be my second best option – I don’t sub ohm much these days – as it is basically the same as the SMOK Nord 4, just with a slightly smaller battery. The matching two pods included in the kit are equipped with RPM 2 Mesh 0.16Ω coil and RPM Mesh 0.4Ω coil, which can hold a massive 6ml of e-liquid to ensure long-lasting vaping and reduce frequent filling. This is provided for the standard RPM POD. It’s nothing to really write home about, with it’s recommended wattage being only 25 Watts, but it does put out some nice flavour. Definitely not on par with the 0.15 ohm coil on the RPM2 POD, but reasonable enough. Plus, you won’t chew through e-liquid nor your battery using this coil. I’d definitely recommend this one if you’re out and about and don’t want to be charging or carrying any spare e-liquid with you.This seems to indicate that a larger battery capacity is required to handle the additional power requirements of the new coil. It really should have been taken into account when boosting up the wattage capabilities of the device. Final Thoughts

It’s probably a good idea to top the pod up though to prevent the cotton becoming dry, no one cherishes a dry hit lol! Don’t get me wrong. The flavour and cloud production from both was more than satisfactory but they did have a habit of misbehaving (leaking) under higher wattage demands. It had excellent battery life, and decent coils, and it kept much the same design language as its predecessor, the OG SMOK Nord. I managed to get a full eight hours from the 1500mah battery using the 0.4ohm mesh coil. Not too shabby!

First Impressions

I noticed an impressive fusion of fruit with the pineapple and grapefruit being abundant in equal measure. The flavour remained consistent throughout exhale and left the pleasant aftertaste I’ve come to associate with this e-liquid profile.

The 0.16ohm mesh coil fared less favourably allowing six hours of vaping at 40W.
