About this deal

Herbaceous peonies usually require some kind of support, while intersectional and shrub-like tree peonies can often manage without it. Peonies are meant for cutting so don’t be afraid to clip them and bring them inside using a clean, sharp pair of shears (these are my favorite pruning shears).

Rustic finish arrives pre-aged to give an authentic rust effect that blends beautifully into your garden. The finish is like any natural rusted metal and care should be taken initially as the rust may transfer onto clothes and furnishings. I planted three pale pink Sarah Bernhardt peonies years ago and they have been rewarding me with armloads of peonies ever since.

Peony blooms do best when they are supported, so it is important to make sure they have some sort of structure or support around them. A signature will be required upon delivery unless we have authorisation from you that the goods can be left.

Don’t cut peony foliage down to the ground too early or your peony won’t have enough time to store up the energy it needs to bloom in the spring. Supporting peonies is important to keep them looking their best. In this post, I will teach you how to support your peonies so that you can enjoy their beauty for years to come! There are many types of supports but I like peony grids. They come in a few different sizes so choose the one right for your size shrub. The cage also allows air to circulate around the flower buds, keeping them in pristine condition as they unfurl each spring season. Peony cages should be installed in early spring when tender new growth first appears from the ground. When first installed, they will be noticeable and if they are attractive, all the better, but ideally the plant should grow into the structure and be barely noticeable by flowering time. Some people like to use wire tomato cages, but I prefer to use peony cages to support my peonies. Using Peony Cages But don’t worry if you forgot, you can still stake your peonies after the flowers have opened, and save them from crashing to the ground. More About Flower Gardening

Trim your peonies after they’re done blooming to remove the dead flowers, and give the plants a nice shape for the summer. Our solid steel peony cage is the perfect answer for those looking for attractive and effective support for larger outdoor plant life especially where a standard shaped plant support cage just won't do. If a collection needs to be arranged, this will be made for a weekday only, between standard working hours. If you are not able to be at home when the collection is to be made, we can arrange for goods to be collected from a safe location at your request. Planting potted peonies is a great way to get a bit of a head start on growing these beautiful plants.Another factor is because the peony rootball isn’t buried very deep. So stems don’t have a lot of underground support. How to Keep Peonies Upright Before installation, you should measure the diameter of the cage to ensure it fits snugly on your peonies. Be sure to place them firmly around each plant, approximately 3-4 inches from the plant’s crown. How to Install Peony Support Cages

Cut your peony down to the ground in late fall or after frost has killed the leaves (don’t cut it down in the spring or summer or it may not bloom next spring)!Tomato cages are useful garden tools that encourage plants to grow upward and keep them from prematurely spoiling, as well as prevent premature tomato death. Tomato cages that are designed to grow tall and strong have the greatest advantage over plants that do not grow tall or strong. Keep the portion you cut off, this can still be used to support things in your garden, even smaller peony bushes. (if planting from peonies bare-root it can take a few years for them to fill in) Supporting Peonies when Flowering If you have a balcony or porch, you can grow cherry or grape tomatoes there. These small fruited plants grow much better in containers than larger slicing tomatoes and their long, ropey vines grow over container edges.
