About this deal

The p 42 is a great bet, dated I know but very well put together and will reward you the day you sell over other makes. Both bathrooms are good and they both have "tube" showers which you can actually use in anger without swamping the room in water. We`ve got the new Dometic electric single touch toilets which are really great, very luxurious and (relatively) quiet.

The Princess 42 Li comes with one 4Ah battery and a standard charger and along with a 2-year warranty.

35 Years experience

Engine-wise we`ve got the larger 435hp D6 units which are spot on. Superchargers get you onto the plane then turbo chargers start to do their work and the superchargers cut out. It all makes light work of the 12 tonnes or so. Close quarters handling is a breeze with the electronic controls. The auto synchronising of the engines revs took a bit of getting used to but any new boat will have it`s idiosyncrasies. Whilst Simon was clearly impressed by how well he was looked after during the sale, it’s the service he’s received since that has really wowed him. And having bought a boat through the Princess Approved Scheme, he has experienced the perfect example of what has become industry leading customer care. The Princess Motor Yacht Sales concierge service is the perfect example of the company’s commitment to the ultimate in customer care. Each customer gets a dedicated agent who knows the customer and knows the boat. Simon’s concierge is Richard Baker. I looked around long and hard over a period of time with a view to changing our Phantom 42, (now available for sale if anyone is interested!) which we were very happy with, and to be honest the fact the Phantom was so good made finding a replacement all the more difficult.

I’m talking to Simon Rowbrey, who’s been hooked on Princess Motor Yacht Sales’ attitude to customer care ever since buying his Princess 42 from the company. Not really that much to report in terms of annoying bits, we`ve used it a bit with trips to Weymouth, the Isle of Wight & so on (based in Portsmouth) in a variety of conditions. The hull is a bit noisier than the Fairline - possibly a slightly lighter lay up ? but certainly the boat doesn`t feel "cheap" and the interior was vastly better than that of the Fairlines we considered (it was a hard jump to Princess having owned 2 Fairlines). The Mountfield Princess 42 Li is an electric cordless lawn mower weighing just 15kg and is powered by a single 4.0Ah STIGA battery. It has a 42cm cutting blade, a 50 litre grass collection bag and is designed for medium lawns up to 400m². There are 6 cutting heights available that range from 25mm to 75mm and the mower comes with a two year manufacturer’s warranty that includes the batteries. Fairline - liked the contemporary look but felt that all interior finishes were of inferior quality. Not so keen on overall look of boat.New fuel tanks (upgraded marine spec aluminium and upgraded from 3mm to 4mm) – supplied by Pheonix 316

Automatic electric bilge pumps (with manual override) in engine room, forward accommodation and aft lazarette (4 in all)The sealine has the most corners cut/economies made on the build. This is perfectly fine - you pays yer money and takes yer choice. You said you're happy with the interior finishes but you might wanna look again - the walnut "veneer" is printed melamine in many places, not real wood veneer. The princess has real wood veneer on the outside, but printed melamine board inside wardrobes etc. The Fairline is all real wood I would have to say that I do recommend this lawn mower to anyone with a larger-sized garden. However, there might be people who benefit from it more than others. For example, if you want something that simply gets things done and doesn’t have a wealth of options, then this might be a little too complex for you. But if you want something that will easily replicate the power and versatility of a petrol mower, then you’ll likely get on with this very well, thanks to the various mowing options. This particular example has had very light use with low hours and presented in wonderful condition. After you've bought the boat, move it to the Med. You don't want to be messing about with all this wind and rain Cutlass bearings and shaft seals replaced 2019 with second set of shaft seals mounted on shafts for future use

The spacious flybridge includes a comfortable entertaining area with ample seating around a table, double helm seat and separate sun-bed aft.I was a Fairline man through & through but they just didn`t cut it for me looking at what was on offer today. The Phantom 48 blew me away at Southampton in 2006 but it was a lot of money and to be honest the new Princess 50 will probably be my first port of call when I come into a few quid. If I was you I`d hold out for a Princess 42, I really think you`d appreciate it in the long term. Don`t get me wrong, a Phantom 40 isn`t a bad boat, it just wasn`t as good. Both cabins work well, the 2nd cabin can either be used as a twin or a double. Storage is good although we miss not having a pair of wardrobes in the front cabin. That said there is probably more storage than in the Phantom, just spread about a bit. the trouble with boats is that they are half sea going boat and half caravan/country cottage. You are in a lovely position buying new - but although the fairline and sealine interiors are new/fashionable etc when you go travelling its the boats ability that you will remember - especially if the wind changes and it gets a bit rougher than you might have liked. Overview The benchmark for which other 42ft flybridge cruisers try to follow, the Princess 42 is probably one of the finest flybridge cruisers to come out of the Plymouth factory.
