About this deal

The Triangle Borea BR08 is a three way floorstanding speaker. It is the bigger brother of the BR03 standmount that we looked at last year and that deeply impressed in the time it was running. The Borea range is a fairly large one and there are a fair few models to choose from. Why then, have we chosen the BR08? The reason (apart from tedious admin aspects of availability, size of box etc) comes down to the idea of a ‘signature configuration.’ With two 16cm bass drivers, the Borea BR08 has effortless power at the bottom end. With the bass power to do justice to full-scale music, you’re never left wanting more from these speakers – they’re always happy to get down and boogie! Triangle Borea BR09 has a Bass Reflex type cabinet. Bass Reflex type loudspeakers (aka Ported, Vented or Reflex Port) have enclosures that uses a port, hole or vent cut into the cabinet. Ported designs are generally more efficient than the Sealed designs. Speaker Cables with Banana Plugs: If you know the lenght of the cable you need, this is the easier option to connect your speakers with your amp. With Natalie Merchant’s “Carnival,” the differences I’d heard in the midrange were a bit more obvious. The Chora 806es seemed to produce more air and space around Merchant’s voice than did the Borea BR08s, which resulted in a more convincing image of her voice, one I felt I could reach out and touch. The acoustic guitar to right of center also seemed surrounded by more space through the Focals, with a hint more sparkle and bite on leading edges. Nonetheless, the laser-like imaging prowesses of these speakers were essentially on a par, as were the width, height, and depth of their soundstages.

Thanks to its delivery of lower frequencies and its high-power handling, this speaker is perfectly suited to larger rooms (more than 30 sq. m). BOREA Technologies Borea loudspeakers benefit from research and innovations from the Esprit Ez range for uncompromising sound reproduction. EFS Tweeter - A Diffusion Throughout The Room Review Equipment: Auralic G1 streamer, Leema Libra DAC, Merrill Thor amps, Way, Tellurium Q, and Atlas cables. Thanks to its delivery of lower frequencies and its high-power handling, this speaker is perfectly suited to larger rooms (more than 30 sq. m).

The Triangle Borea BR08 is a highly reviewed speaker that’s suitable for a wide range of applications. Large enough to power through movies and loud music but not too big that it overpowers your listening room. Suitable for rooms between 20 – 40m square, these speakers suit most medium-sized to larger rooms. The high efficiency rating makes them easy to drive with lower powered amps.

The Triangle Borea BR02 is the smallest and most compact speaker in the range making it perfect for small to medium spaces around the house. They are also designed to fit on most furniture pieces, such as a bookshelf, desktop or the dedicated S02/S04 speaker stands. The BR02 is a 2-way design featuring next-generation 25mm EFS silk dome tweeter and a 13cm transducer with a natural cellulose paper membrane. This is to deliver rich voice and instrument tones, whilst keeping a high bass level for its smaller size. The bookshelf and the center channel models are equipped with rubber pads, protecting your speakers and limiting vibrations transmitted. Ohms is pretty much the standard nominal impedance amongst stereo speakers and amplifiers so Triangle Borea BR09 is not considered a difficult to drive speaker from nominal Impedance perspective.

It is based on the association of a 25mm silk dome, known for its neutrality, with a phase plug developed specifically to homogenize high-frequency diffusion. This system significantly reduces the directivity regardless of your listening location in the room. The dome is placed inside the partial horn loading, reducing reflections and allowing a clear reproduction of the high frequencies. This transducer is powered by a neodymium motor generating high magnetic power in a compact size. It is coupled to a cooling system, ensuring a better power handling. Midrange in Natural Cellulose A Unique Tonality The floorstanders have a pedestal, ensuring greater stability, on which four inserts allow the implementation of decoupling spikes. Rubber pads are also provided if the flooring does not allow the use of spikes. Magnetic Grill The Triangle Borea BR09 is a versatile floor-standing speaker that performs well in various room sizes. However, to fully appreciate its capabilities, it is best suited fоr medium to large rooms, where the speakers have enough space to deliver their full potential. Smaller rooms may still benefit from the BR09, but proper placement and room treatment become crucial to avoid potential issues such as bass boominess. range is the range of input power in watts RMS that a loudspeaker is designed to handle. While using an amplifier within this range ensures the nominal performance , inputting a power that is higher than the max wattage can result in a damaged speaker.

And, anyway, as Lord Darlington reminds us, value is not cost. Unless we are members of the distortion police, those for whom measurements are all, we approach to value in audio much the same way we might approach a meal. Two chefs cook the French peasant dish ratatouille. The minimal cost of the ingredients is identical, but the more skilful chef turns out a dish that tastes quite sublime while the other’s is rather ho-hum. By happily paying more for one of them, we demonstrate our sensitivity to value. Speaker Cables without Connectors: If you are not sure about the lenght or need longer than standard cables with plugs, choose this option. The BR09 provides a physical make up similar to that of the most high-end systems. Its three 16cm bass drivers operate in a large "bass-reflex" enclosure, thus enabling the speaker to go down to 35Hz. Triangle’s Boreo BR09’s 25mm silk dome tweeter has next generation Efficient Flow System technology for the improvement of high frequencies dispersion and to avoid directional audio flow so that the sound is even across the room.

Where can I find my serial number ?

Actually, the big Triangle did more than that, as it was more than hanging on. It gave the orchestra width, depth and even some height, which you'd typically expect from the likes of Audiovector's R3 Arreté and other similarly higher-priced designs. The Borea isn't quite up to that level of presentation, nor should this be expected, but what was being lovingly decanted into my auditory canal was very impressive indeed. That third driver and resultantly larger bass reflex enclosure allow the ’09 to dig deeper into the lower octaves than the ’08. Triangle claims a minus 3dB point at 35Hz rather than the ’08s 40Hz. With careful siting to take advantage of room gain the review samples generated rather amusing levels of bass slam and weight as part of a relatively linear frequency response. The big change between the two ranges however is that tweeter. All of the Borea models feature what Triangle calls its Efficient Flow System 25mm silk dome tweeter. This next-generation dome is placed inside a partial horn loaded surround, to reduce reflections, but also a distinctive phase plug (which looks more like two points joining together across the tweeter) that is said to reduce directivity and make for a more homogenous sound. This transducer is powered by a neodymium motor and is coupled to a mechanical cooling system, to ensure better power handling.

The 16cm midrange driver is taken from the more premium Esprit EZ range and uses Triangle's favoured cellulose paper cone material. The company likes the material's combination of relatively low mass, rigidity and self-damping. A 16cm midrange driver with a 100% natural cellulose paper membrane is used to avoid coloration of the intermediate frequencies and deliver natural sounding vocals, without degrading the quality of the low frequencies. The BR09’s cabinet is made of perorated internal panels in MDF and filled with high-density EVA foam to reduce internal resonance and allow the speaker structure to be more rigid and secure. The design is able to better absorb impacts so that the low frequencies are more precise and without distortion. Decoupling System Triangle Borea BR09 is a front-firing port speaker , which gives you more flexibility compared to rear firing speakers when you need to place it close against a wall or other surfaces. Those familiar with Triangle and looking to spend around two grand for a pair of speakers may already be getting lofty ideas regarding performance. Indeed, those from the cult of 'source first' may well intend to push these French towers along with some pretty tasty front ends. Meanwhile, others will be matching the BR08 with similarly-priced products. That's the delicate balancing job this faces – it has to be articulate enough to let decent quality equipment shine, yet forgiving enough to still sound good with budget kit. UP CLOSE Lord Darlington, in Oscar Wilde’s play ‘Lady Windermere’s Fan’, famously observes that “a cynic is someone who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.” This innovative concept not only reduces the vibratory behavior of the structure but also absorbs the vibrations generated by the movement of the bass drivers. This proprietary system unique to TRIANGLE is called DVAS (Driver Vibration Absorption System).
