About this deal

Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, "With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man." 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Aside from Sunday mass readings I had no clue where to start…except for at the beginning. Of course that didn’t last long. To do so, and to show God my gratitude, last year, end of 2022, I promised God I would read his story once and for all. Thank you so much to Ft. Mike, Jeff Cavins and Bobby Semendy and his team for tge daily notes on the BIAY. This has helped so much in reading throught bible and understanding what I am reading.

I have a Religious Studies Degree with a focus on Roman Catholic Thought. I would have loved to have had this bible when I was a student. It would have been great for my personal reading and for academic research. It is well put together. Organized coherently. Good footnotes without being excessive. The principal annotator and associate editor of the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible, Curtis Mitch, wrote this: "The new Great Adventure Catholic Bible is a thing of beauty. There's no other way to describe it.

Please note: The Bible contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised. In The Bible in a Year podcast, Fr. Mike Schmitz walks you through the entire Bible in 365 episodes, providing commentary, reflection, and prayer along the way.

Everything about this Bible says "read me!" Hats off to Jeff Cavins and his team for pouring their gifts and talents into this fabulous new resource. This is not a book you'll want in your library; it's a book you'll want in your hands!" Then the Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,'

No one knows when the creation or the flood occurred. Abraham was born about 2150 B.C. His great-grandson Joseph died about 1800 B.C.

The layout of the biblical text is wonderfully readable; its teaching enhancements, which give Catholics needed help in grasping the grand story of salvation history, are superb; and even the maps and charts are visually stunning. Articles to help you understand the overarching story and important covenants that tie the entire Bible together. Important people in this book are Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and Rachel, and Joseph. Twelve Timeline charts provide a visual overview of the Bible, including: important characters, key events, geography, major covenants, world rulers, and contemporary events in secular history. This is a beautiful study bible. There are great notes and reference materials. And if you are looking for a new study bible, I can highly recommend this volume. I have owned many bibles over the last 45ish years. This is one of the best I have used for study. Genesis tells how God created the universe and human beings. It also covers the special promises God made to Abraham.

Unlike any other Bible podcast, Ascension’s Bible in a Year podcast follows a reading plan inspired by The Great Adventure Bible Timeline, a ground-breaking approach to understanding salvation history developed by renowned Catholic Bible scholar Jeff Cavins. For each period in the timeline, Jeff will join Fr. Mike for a special episode that will help you understand the context of each reading. The Adventure Bible NIV is suggested for 9-12 year olds. Indented thumb tabs and a “How to Use This Bible” introduction will help young readers get started on their exploration of God’s word. The Adventure Bible for Early Readers NIrV is the New International Reader’s Version with slight modifications in the reading level to accommodate the intended audience of 6-10 year olds. All rights reserved. No part of this excerpt may be reproduced or reprinted without permission in writing from the publisher. Fr. Mike concludes the book of Sirach today and encourages us to continue the pursuit of wisdom. In our reading of 2 Maccabees, we see again the pillage of the Temple and we are re- introduced to Judas Maccabeus. Lastly, in Proverbs Fr. Mike encourages us to resist the temptation to rejoice when our enemies fall. Today’s readings are 2 Maccabees 5, Sirach 50-51, and Proverbs 24:17-20. Thank you for putting this Bible in a Year reading together and sharing it with us. It has been the most rewarding thing I have done in years…maybe decades…maybe ever!
